Argentina booked their World Cup place at the last opportunity

Argentina struggled to even reach the finals in Russia, falling behind in a must-win game against Ecuador before being rescued by a brilliant Lionel Messi hat-trick. Their defense has been shaky in many important matches as the Albiceleste conceded twice to the likes of Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru and Bolivia in the CONMEBOL group. Furthermore, Jorge Sampaoli's men were hammered 6-1 by Spain earlier this year. They had a far from adequate preparation ahead of the World Cup - warm-up matches against Nicaragua and Israel were both cancelled, leaving their 4:0 win over Haiti as their only friendly test.

Argentina lost their first choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero to injury just before the tournament and Chelsea stopper Willy Caballero is likely to play between the posts. Jorge Sampaoli also had to make changes to the initial 23-men squad calling up Enzo Perez to replace the injured Manuel Lanzini. Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain are likely to start up front, supported by the likes of Maximiliano Meza, Angel Di Maria, and Giovani Lo Celso. The likes of Ever Banega and Cristian Pavon provide further options as well as Pualo Dybala and Sergio Aguero in attack.

Iceland followed up their Euro 2016 heroics by topping a tough qualifying group

Iceland finished as group winners in their Russia 2018 qualifying group, above the likes of Croatia, Ukraine and Turkey, as they continued to ride the wave of success from their Euro 2016 campaign. Their recent form has not been very impressive as their last win came five matches ago against Indonesia. More recently, the Icelanders were beaten 3-2 by Norway before being held to a 2-2 draw by Ghana. Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side conceded as many as 11 goals during the thread of three defeats and a draw in last four friendly internationals.

Alfred Finnbogasson is expected to be the main attacking outlet after scoring in the last two friendlies. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Aron Gunnarsson are expected to be fit having all carried injuries with them over the past few months, whilst Kolbein Sighthorsson is definitely ruled out with a knee injury. Ragnar Sigurdsson and Kari Arnason have the toughest job of the night as they should try to stop Messi, Higuain, Di Maria & co.
