Aston Villa vs Leicester betting preview

Aston Villa have won half their home matches this season

Aston Villa did manage to secure a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium, scoring with their only shot on target. Dean Smith will be also chuffed with his team’s victory hosting Watford in the Premier League last time out, a vast improvement on the 6-1 hiding handed to them by Manchester City in their previous outing at Villa Park. In the previous round, Dean Smith's men recorded a comfortable victory over Liverpool’s ‘kids’. The Villans have failed to score just five times in 30 matches in all competitions this season. Anyway, on the other side of the pitch, they have kept just five clean sheets so far.

New signing Mbwana Samatta could be in line for his debut. Dean Smith also has another striker in Keinan Davis available again, but midfielder Danny Drinkwater is ineligible after playing in an earlier roundof the Carabao Cup. Brazilian striker Wesle and John McGinn remain sidelined, as well as goalkeepers Tom Heaton and Jed Steer. As a result, January signing Pepe Reina will start between the posts, with Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause and Ezri Konsa forming the three man backline. Matt Targett and Frederic Guilbert will play as wing backs, with Douglas Luiz and Marvelous Nakamba anchoring the midfield.

Leicester failed to win a game for the first time this season last Sunday

Leicester City enter this game on the back of a 4-1 victory over West Ham in Premier League and a 1-0 win at Brentford in the FA Cup at the weekend. Anyway, prior to that they were winless in three matches, suffering back to back league defeats against Southampton and Burnley. Brendan Rodgers' men have gone W8-D1-L2 from 11 road trips dating back to late October and it’s an impressive run given one of those defeats came at Etihad. The Foxes also ran out comfortable 4-1 winners at this ground in December’s league clash and are 23 points ahead of their hosts in the Premier League table.

Jamie Vardy is back in the squad for the short trip across the midlands after injury he may not quite be at 100 percent and may not even start. Brendan Rodgers also confirmed Wilfred Ndidi is fit to start while Nampalys Mendy is ruled out. The former Liverpool manager faces picking two from Dennis Praet, Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez, with the latter potentially being left on the substitutes' bench. In defense, Caglar Soyuncu looks likely to keep his place from the FA Cup match last Saturday, with Ben Chilwell, Jonny Evan and Ricardo Pereira completing the four man backline.
