BAYERN MUNICH v ARSENAL BETTING PREVIEW
Bayern Munich started their pre-season in style with wins over local sides Wolfratshausen and Erlangen netting 13 goals in the process, with 17-year-old Cameroon-born striker Franck Evina bagging a double in both matches. Then, the Bavarians won Telekom Cup tournament, beating Hoffenheim 1-0 and Werder Bremen 2-0. Bayern have beaten Arsenal 5-1 the last three times they have faced each other – all in the Champions League.Among the new signings Bayern could field against Arsenal are James Rodriguez, who has joined on a two-year loan from Real Madrid, defender Niklas Sule and midfielders Corentin Tolisso and Sebastian Rudy. James could feature, however, after helping his new club beat Werder Bremen to lift the Telekom Cup on Saturday. One player the Bavarians will not use, though, is ex-Arsenal prospect Serge Gnabry. Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels, and Arjen Robben are all with the team, although Manuel Neuer misses out through injury and Arturo Vidal, Joshua Kimmich, Sebastian Rudy, and Niklas Sule are all absent through injury or rest.
Arsenal got their pre-season tour underway in Australia on Thursday with a 2-0 victory over Sydney FC, with goals from skipper Per Mertesacker and new signing Alexandre Lacazette. They enter this match on the back of a 3-1 friendly win over Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday. This fixture could serve as a chance for revenge for Arsenal, who were left distraught after Bayern Munich thrashed them over two legs back in February.
The Gunners have made former Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette their club-record signing and signed on a free transfer the versatile left-sided player Sead Kolasinac. Lacazette was deployed on the left last time out and should continue to play in that position, with Olivier Giroud spearheading the attack. With star man Alexis Sanchez not in attendance, Wenger may continue experimenting. The French manager has left the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Lucas Perez, and Mathieu Debuchy at home.
