BAYERN MUNICH v REAL MADRID BETTING PREVIEW
Bayern Munich took another big step towards retaining their Bundesliga title yet again on Saturday with a convincing 4-1 victory in 'Der Klassiker' over rivals Borussia Dortmund. This success came after a disappointing 1-0 loss at Hoffenheim on Tuesday. As consequence, the Bavarians top the doemstic table, 10 points clear of RB Leipzig. They have won 15 and drawn one of their last 16 Champions League at the Allianz Arena and cruised through to the quarter finals with a 10-2 aggregate win over Arsenal, winning both legs 5-1.
Mats Hummels is ruled out for Bayern, while goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and striker Thomas Muller are major doubt. This will see Jerome Boateng partner up with Javi Martinez once more. Arturo Vidal and Xabi Alonso are expected to start in midfield, while the likes of Frank Ribery, Thiago Alcantara and Arjen Robben are expected to form the offensive midfield trio behind the lone striker Robert Lewandowski. A further option is Kingsley Coman while Douglas Costa is not fully fit.
Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw with rivals Atletico Madrid at the weekend, but earned a point over Barcelona as well and currently top La Liga table with a 3 points gap over the Blaugrana and one game in hand. They also won both legs of their Round of 16 assignment, beating Napoli home and away with a 3-1 scoreline. Away from home, the Galacticos have won their last five. However, they have been held to draws on their travels by the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Legia Warsaw in this competition, Furthermore, they have now lost just one of their last 16 games in all competitions and remain unbeaten in Champions League.
The visitors have a minor defensive crisis, with Raphael Varane and Pepe both ruled out. This will see Nacho partnering Sergio Ramos at centre back. Dani Carvajal also is doubtful and could be replaced by Fabio Coentrao. No changes are expected in midfield as Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos will start in the middle of the park. Up front, Karim Benzema will play as central striker with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo on his flanks.
