Blackpool have won only one of their last nine matches and enter this clash on the back of a New Year's Day home loss to Sunderland, a result that pushed the Seasiders down to 10th in the League One table. Furthermore, Blackpool required a replay - and extra time - to see off Solihull Moors in the previous round. Prior to that, they have beaten Exeter (2-3). They have only netted six in their previous nine matches (and three were against Solihull). The Tangerines have failed to find the net in six in that run too.  

Jordan Thompson completes a three-match ban this weekend and will miss the match. Furthermore, the likes of Curtis Tilt, Ollie Turton, Jimmy Ryan, Max Clayton and Mark Cullen are all doubtful for the Seasiders. Manager Terry McPhillips should select similar side to the one that played Arsenal in the EFL Cup earlier this season. That would see Armand Gnanduillet leading the line, with Nathan Delfouneso and Liam Feeney playing as wingers. In midfield, Jay Spearing will be flanked by Callum Guy and Oliver Turton, while the four man backline should be formed by Marc Bola and Michael Nottingham as full backs, Ben Heneghan and Paudie O'Connor as centre backs.

Arsenal kicked off 2019 in style as they hammered Fulham 4-1 at the Emirates, bouncing back from last weekend's 5-1 defeat to Liverpool. The Gunners, who  haven't kept a clean sheet in any of their last six matches, enjoyed a fairly mixed festive period in which their 22-match unbeaten run was lost to Southampton on the 16th December in a 3-2 defeat. In terms of direct matches, Arsenal have won their last 6 meetings with Blackpool in all competitions. The most recent success came in the League Cup earlier this season (2-1).

Unay Emery may rest a few regulars, allowing majority of the club’s youngsters showcase their talents. Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal and Mesut Ozil may not be available to feature while Rob Holding, Henrikh Mhkitaryan, Danny Welbeck and Emile Smith-Rowe are sidelined. Furtheremore, the game could come too early for Konstantinos Mavropanos, meaning that Sokratis Papastathopoulous or Laurent Koscielny could start at centre-back. The youngster Julio Pleguezuelo could make his debut at the heart of the back. Alexandre Lacazette should lead the line, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Aaron Ramsey and Eddie Nketiah forming the offensive midfield trio. Mo Elneny and Joe Willock should anchor the midfield.
