ECUADOR vs ARGENTINA BETTING PREVIEW
Ecuador, who are already eliminated, have lost their last five World Cup qualifiers and have been beaten three times at home in the last year, including a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Peru in Quito last month. They have collected 20 points from 17 outings so far, 5 less than Argentina. In the reverse match, La Tricolor upset Argentina with a 0-2 win earlier this campaign.
Antonio Valencia and Michael Arroyo miss out through suspension. Jacob Murillo is expected to be positioned tucked behind the lone striker Roberto Ordonez, since Enner Valencia has nott been named in the squad. The four man midfield will be formed by Orejuela, Intriago, Ibarra and Preciado while the likes of Ramirez, Arboleda, Aimar and Velasco will probably start at the back.
Argentina enter this match after bagging just three points in last three matches and dropping out of the Group’s top 5. A 0-0 draw at home with Peru on Thursday has left Jorge Sampaoli's men languishing down in 6th in the standings, level on 25 points and goal difference (+1) with Peru. The top 4 teams qualify automatically for Russia 2018, with the fifth-placed side going into a play-off against New Zealand in November. The Albiceleste have failed to win on each of their last three outings to Ecuador with two draws and a loss (0-0, 1-1, 2-0) making their situation looking even more dangerous.
Sergio Aguero misses out due to a broken ribs injury he sustained in a car crash and should be replaced by Dario Benedetto or Mauro Icardi while Paulo Dybala should be benched again. Obviously, Leo Messi will retain their starting berth up front, alongside Angel Di Maria. Enzo Perez and Eduardo Salvio could start the game as Fernando Gago suffered an injury to his knee ligaments last time out and will be on the sidelines for 6-8 months.
