England v Czech Republic betting preview

England have lost only one of their last 26 home matches

England have built on their excellent World Cup campaign by reaching the UEFA Nations League semi-finals. Gareth Southgate's men have managed to top their UEFA Nations League group, where they proved to be better than Croatia and Spain. They suffered a defeat against La Roja (1:2), drew against Croatia (0:0), but managed to win the next two fixtures against Spain (2:3) and Croatia (2:1). The Three Lions are undefeated in their last five games, winning four times and have a solid home record - W22-D3-L1 since 2012, with that sole defeat to Spain in the UEFA Nations League. They kept a clean sheet in 15 of those victories

Gareth Southgate has had five players withdrawn from his original squad through injury - Luke Shaw, John Stones, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fabian Delph and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Plus, Marcus Rashford and Jordan Henderson are doubtful. As a result, Declan Rice could make his official debut as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi. Harry Kane will lead the line with Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling expected to be in support should Southgate stick with a 4-3-3 formation. The likes of Harry Maguire and Michael Kean will start as centre back, with Kyle Walker and Danny Rose expected to feature from the off as full backs.

Czech Republic have lost their way a little in recent years.

Czech Republic failed qualify for the World Cup, finishing four points behind Northern Ireland during qualifying for the 2018 World Cup. They have since lost five of their last 10 matches, including a 4-0 thrashing by Australia and a 5-1 loss to Russia. In the recent Nations League, the Czechs beat twice their neighbours Slovakia but lost both matches against Ukraine. Jaroslav Silhavy's men have only managed seven goals across their last eight fixtures. Anyway, they are on 2 games winning streak after defeating Poland (0:1) in a friendly match and most recently Slovakia in the Nations League match (1:0). As to direct encounters, this will be the first ever competitive meeting between these two sides. The two sides shared a 2-2 draw when they met at this ground in a friendly in 2008 in their most recent direct encounter.

Tomas Vaclik has been ruled out with a muscle injury, meaning Rennes goalkeeper Tomas Koubek is likely to start. Captain Borek Dockal is an injury doubt, with Hertha Berlin's Vladimir Darida ready to deputise if needed. Roma's Patrik Schick will be their main dangerman up front, supported by Matej Vydra and Jakub Jankto out wide. Tomas Soucek will anchor the midfield, while Theodor Gebre Selassie, Tomas Kalas, Ondrej Celustka and Pavel Kaderabek will form the four man backline.
