France v Uruguay betting preview  

France have lost just one of their last 16 matches in all competitions

France have won six of their last nine internationals but they were beaten 2-0 by Netherlands on Friday and failed to qualify for the UEFA Nations League final four. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in the last four outings, conceding 6 goals in the process. Anyway, it has been a great year for Didier Deschamps' men. Les Bleus overcame the likes of Belgium, Argentina and even Uruguay on their way to the final, where they emerged victorious with a 4-2 win over Croatia in the World Cup final.

Didier Deschamps should get some of its young guys minutes here. The likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Benjamin Mendy and Alexandre Lacazette are all out through injury. There could be official debuts for Gladbach forward Alassane Plea and Lyon left-back Ferland Mendy. Up front, Kylian Mbappè is likely to lead the line, with Antoine Griezmann tucked behind him and Ousmane Dembelè on the right flank. Florian Thauvin, Nabil Fekir and Olivier Giroud provide further offensive options. Tanguy Ndombele can expect game time in midfield alongside N'Golo Kantè while Presnel Kimpembe and Raphael Varane should be paired at the heart of the back.

Uruguay have lost their last three international fixtures

Uruguay had a decent campaign in World Cup aa they finished top of Group A with ease after beating Saudi Arabia and hosts Russia in their next two before putting in an excellent performance to overcome Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in the Round of 16. However los Charruas enter this clash on the back of a narrow defeat against Brazil (0-1) few days ago. That was their third defeat in a row as La Celeste were beaten 2-1 by South Korea and 4-3 by Japan last month. Of course they will want a revenge against Les Blues as they have been stopped in the quarter-finals by France (0-2).

First choice centre backs Diego Godin or Jose Gimenez are both absent as well as Sebastian Coates. As conseuqence, Martin Caceres will move to the heart of the back to partner Bruno Mendez while Diego Laxalt and Mathias Suarez will start as full backs. Italian Serie A trio Matias Vecino, Rodrigo Betancur and Lucas Torreira are expected to start in midfield while Giorgian De Arrascaeta should support the front duo formed by Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez. The likes of Fernando Muslera, Christian Stuani and Gaston Silva are other other notable absences.
