GREECE v BELGIUM BETTING PREVIEW
Greece’s hopes of World Cup qualification took a bit of a blow on Friday night as they failed to beat Estonia on home soil, but they did receive a boost as third placed Bosnia suffered a shock loss against Cyprus. That draw was a third in successive qualifiers but Michael Skibbe’s troops are still in pole position to claim the runners-up spot. The Greeks did a fantastic job in picking up a 1-1 draw out in Belgium in the reverse match and are unbeaten in their four previous home games against Les Diables Rouges. With 9 points remaining to fight for, this game is a must win for Greece to reduce the gap between them and Belgium to 3 points.
Vasilis Torosidis has been ruled out and Tsavellas is in line to join Sokratis, Kostas Manolas, and Kyriakos Papadopoulos in the four man back-line. Kostas Mitroglou is likely to spearhead the attack while 23 year old midfielder Dimitris Kourbelis is looking for his debut. Tziolis and Zeca are sure starters in midfield, with Maniatis, Samaris and Fortounis favourite to feature from the off in the 4-5-1 starting system.
Belgium equalled their biggest ever win by beating Gibraltar 9-0 on Thursday, with Romelu Lukaku and Thomas Meunier netting hat tricks, while Eden Hazard was on the scoresheet as well. Prior to that, they recorded a 2-1 win over Czech Republic and a 2-0 triumph at Estonia. Les Diables Rouges are six points ahead of Greece and have a huge +31 goal difference. In fact, they have scored 33 goals in their seven qualification games, conceding just two. Furthermore, Roberto Martinez's men have won all three of their away games so far in the group to nil.
Eden Hazard returned from injury against Gibraltar and is expected to captain his team while Romelu Lukaku will retain his berth as lone striker. Youri Tielemans could start in place of the suspended Axel Witsel in midfield as Radja Nainggolan has been left out. Dries Mertens and Kevin De Bruyne are expected to occupy the remaining offensive spots while Thomas Meunier awill join the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Kompany and Jan Vertonghen in the four man back-line.
