ITALY U21 v GERMANY U21 BETTING PREVIEW 

Italy opened this tournament with a 2-0 victory over Denmark but were brought back down to earth by the Czech Republic as they suffered a 3-1 defeat in Tychy, a result that has hindered their knockout hopes. A win could see them finish second, but even then, a place in the semis is not guaranteed, such is the cutthroat nature of this tournament. They Azzurrini need to better Czech Republic's result against Denmark in order to progress. This will be a match between a high-scoring team against a solid defense - Italy had taken seven clean sheets in their ten qualifiers while Germany scored 35 goals in their ten qualification matches, making them the top scorers.

Luigi Di Biagio made wholesale changes last time out and this choice did not pay dividends. He should revert to a starting Xi more similar to the one who beat Denmark, meaning that Roberto Gagliardini and Marco Benassi should replace Alberto Grassi and Danilo Cataldi in midfield. The likes of Mattia Caldara and Antonio Barreca will feature from the off, with Alex Ferrari and Davide Calabria making room in defense. No changes are expected up front, where Federico Bernardeschi, Domenico Berardi and Andrea Petagna should all retain their berth, altough Federico Chiesa was impressive both against the Danes and the Czechs.
  


With six points already in the bag, Germany look set to advance to the semifinals as they need just a single point from this match to secure a top spot finish. After a workmanlike 2-0 success against Czech Republic first up, Germany brushed aside Denmark with the minimum of fuss. with goals from Davie Selke, Marc-Oliver Kempf and Nadiem Amiri sealing a routine 3-0 win. Italy will need to score more than two goals and that should see this game open up which should in turn see Germany get plenty of opportunities on the counter.

German manager Stefan Kuntz will probably make few changes to his starting line-up. Gideon Jung and Nadiem Amiri are among the players who could come in, replacing Maximilian Arnold and Mitchell Weiser as central and offensive midfielder respectively. Max Meyer and Serge Gnabry are expected to continue to support the lone striker Davie Selke. The four man backline should be unchanged, meaning that Jeremy Toljan, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Niklas Stark and Yannick Gerhardt will all start this clash.
