JOSHUA vs MARTIN: BETTING PREVIEW
British heavyweight sensation and former Olympic gold medallist Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15KOs) has the opportunity to become a world champion in only his 16th professional fight which has led to suggestions that the 26-year-old might have taken the step up too early. He has not faced a southpaw since leaving the amateur ranks struggled to overcome southpaw Roberto Cammarelle in the 2012 Olympics final. Long-term rival Dillian Whyte also seriously threatened him with a left hook when they fought in December.
Apart from that seventh round stoppage of Dillian White last time out, no boxer has lasted more than three rounds with Joshua in the professional ranks. When facing better opponents like Martin, the ability to fight over a distance is a trait he might have to show, but to his credit, he looked energetic in the 7th round against Whyte.
AJ is supremely fit, agile, moves well, is a textbook boxer and has fight-ending power. He has a cannon-blast right hand shot and can move well. Joshua has 100% knockout rate and bookmakers are expecting the Brit to mantain his perfect record.
American southpaw Charles Martin has never been beaten as he boast a 23 wins, 1 Draw (21 KOs) in his career. He secured the title in January (the vacant title that was stripped from Tyson Fury) courtesy of victory over Vyacheslav Glazkov when the he was the beneficiary of his opponent suffering a serious knee injury in Round 3.
Martin is an explosive puncher and has halted 15 opponents inside the first three rounds. His size and power make him a threat. He has relied on his size and power, while working well from long-range and showing a lot of offensive upside. But there were times against Glazkov where his head was hanging precariously in the air during exchanges.
Both Marin and Joshua had a fight against Raphael Zumbano Love. In February 2015 he knocked out the Brazilian in the tenth round of their meeting. In May 2015 Anthony Joshua stopped him inside two.
