MANCHESTER UTD vs CHELSEA BETTING PREVIEW
Manchester United have lost two of their last three Premier League games - 2:0 at Tottenham and 1:0 at Newcastle. They still occupy second place in the table, but there are now only four points separating them from an in-form Tottenham in fifth place. The Red Devils, who are undefeated in 29 of their last 30 home matches in Premier League, enter this clash on the back of a goalless draw at Sevilla in Champions League on Tuesday night, meaning they have kept a clean sheet in 9 of the last 11 games in all competitions.
Jose Mourinho revealed Ander Herrera will miss this clash becasue of a muscle injury suffered in midweek. Paul Pogba should be recalled, perhaps alongside Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic to form a three man midfield. This would see Juan Mata dropping on the bench as Jesse Lingard is expected to start in the front three alongside Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. The likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are the possible replacements. In defense, Phil Jones missed out in midweek due to a knock and remains doubtful. Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly could take his place, while Luke Shaw may push for a recall at left-back. Marcos Rojo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Daley Blind remain doubtful, while Marouane Fellaini is out through injury.
Chelsea have also suffered two defeats in the last 3 Premier League outings - 0:3 at home against Bournemouth and 4:1 at Watford - but they enter this clash on the back of a very creditable 1-1 draw against Barcelona in Champions League on Tuesday night. Prior to that, they trashed West Brom 3-0 in Premier League and 4-0 Hull City in FA Cup, both at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have won only two of their last nine away games in all competitions and they have not have not won a competitive match at Old Trafford since a 1-0 victory in May 2013. Manchester UTD did run out 2-0 winners when these two teams met at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ last season but Chelsea won this season's direct encounter at Stamford Bridge, 1-0 last November.
Tiemoue Bakayoko, David Luiz and Ross Barkley all remain out, but Antonio Conte has no other injury concerns. Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud were both on the bench against Barcelona in midweek but Antonio Conte may recall one of them here, with Eden Hazard then likely to replace Pedro in the advanced midfield positions. In midfield, Cesc Fabregas is expected to retain his start alongside N'Golo Kantè, ahead of Danny Drinkwater. Gary Cahill could come in to freshen up the three-man defence, most likely in place of Antonio Rudiger, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen retaining their berth.
