With Brazil and Croatia expected to dominate in a difficult group, both teams will view this match as their greatest opportunity to collect maximum points.

Mexico suffered consecutive friendly defeats against Portugal and Bosnia-Herzegovina prior to landing in Brazil, both were at home and both were in a 1-0 scoreline. El Tri showed absolutely no attacking qualities (7 goals in 10 matches) during the qualifiers for the Concacaf zone.

Oribe Peralta will lead the line for Mexico after scoring 10 goals in his last 10 appearances for El Tri. 35-year-old Rafael Marquez will provide experience at the heart of the defence, while the likes of Andres Guardado and Giovani dos Santos will carry the creative threat going forward.

Cameroon has only lost one of its last 10 official matches and, after an unconvincing qualifying campaign, made a big impression in both home and away legs against Tunisia to secure its place in Brazil. Anyway, they have been pretty inconsistent since clinching World Cup qualification, sharing spoils with Germany and defeating Macedonia and Moldova, but losing to Portugal and Paraguay.

Eto'o will lead the line and captain the side. Jean Makoun has recovered from an ankle problem, but he will not be in the starting line-up, whilst Landry N’Guemo and Edgard Salli are injury doubts. Joel Matip could play in midfield or defence, so Eyong Enoh will be on call to come into midfield. Choupo Moting will be the second striker - he has scored three goals in his last four international fixtures.
