NEWCASTLE vs MANCHESTER UTD BETTING PREVIEW
Newcastle are without a win in their last four in the league and enter this match on the back of two 1-1 draws against Burnley (at home) and Crystal Palace (away). Their last three points came away to Stoke City on New Year's Day. The Magpies are only one point above the bottom three and have only been victorious in three of their 13 league games at St James' Park. Furthermore, Rafa Benitez's men have scored just four goals in their last eight league outings at their own turf, failing to find the net in five of those fixtures.
New signing Islam Slimani is a doubt for the away side, meaning that Dwight Gayle will start as lone forward in a 4-4-1-1 system, with Ayoze Perez as number ten. Robert Elliot and Jesus Gamez are other injury concerns as Ciaran Clark looks set to overcome a knee injury to be available for this clash, joining DeAndre Yedlin, Jamal Lascelles and Paul Dummett in defense. Kenedy has made a real impact since joining on loan from Chelsea and will retain his starting berth as left wing. Jonjo Shelvey and Mohamed Diame are expected to start in midfield.
Manchester United suffered a 2-0 defeat on their last Premier League away-day - against Tottenham but bounced back with a convincing 2-0 home victory over Huddersfield. As a result, the Red Devils have kept a clean sheet in seven of their last eight matches, winning six of them. They now have a five-point gap over third-placed Liverpool, while Chelsea are six points off them. In the reverse match earlier this season, Man UTD dismantled the Magpies and secured a convincing 4-1 victory. Phil Jones, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial could all return for this match after being left out of the starting lineup against Huddersfield. Marcus Rashford is a doubt while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still sidelined meaning that the attack will be unchanged with Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata supporting the lone striker Romelu Lukaku. In midfield, Nemanja Matic is favourite over Ander Herrera for a starting berth, with Scott McTominay providing cover. Daley Blind is unlikely to feature, while Eric Bailly and Marouane Fellaini are both sidelined.
