Arsenal vs Manchester UTD Betting Preview
Having gone 13 games unbeaten, Arsenal were poor in midweek as they crashed to a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup few days ago. Mikel Arteta's men are struggling to show the consistency that enabled them to rival Manchester City for the Premier League title over the past two seasons. They have dropped points in nine of their 20 league matches to slip six points behind table toppers Liverpool, who also have a game in hand.
Manchester United are the holders after claiming their 13th FA Cup trophy last year with a surprise victory over rivals Manchester City. Ruben Amorim's men are winless in the last five outings, but at least they ended their four-game losing streak with a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League last weekend. Prior to that, three successive losses without scoring against Bournemouth, Wolves and Newcastle United saw United plummet to 12th in the table.
Arsenal ran out 2-0 victors at Emirates Stadium over Manchester UTD when the pair met almost 40 days ago. That was Ruben Amorim's first loss as United manager and Mikel Arteta's men fourth-straight home success over the Red Devils. Actually, Man UTD are winless at Emirates Stadium in the last 7 visits.
Best Odds
Arsenal are 3/4 (1.75) to record back-to-back victories over Manchester United, having beaten them 2-0 at the Emirates just over a month ago. The Red Devils are 4/1 (5.00), while if you fancy extra time, then a draw is available at 29/10 (4.01 on non-UK boomakers).
Probable Line-Ups
Arsenal (4-3-3): Neto; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Partey, Odegaard, Rice; Trossard, Jesus, Martinelli
Arsenal are without Bukayo Saka, Ben White, and Takehiro Tomiyasu. The youngster Ethan Nwaneri is also out after picking up a groin injury last time out, but Raheem Sterling is fit again and could play at some stage. Back-up goalkeeper Neto could make his debut as number one. Gabriel Jesus is likely to start up front, with Leandro Trossard or Kai Havertz making room, while Riccardo Calafiori for Myles Lewis-Skelly on the left is another alteration that the Arsenal boss might be expected to make
Manchester UTD (3-4-2-1): Bayindir; Yoro, Maguire, Martinez; Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dalot; Amad, Fernandes; Hojlund
Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Altay Bayindir will feature between the sticks ahead of the error-prone Andre Onana. Marcus Rashford is 'unlikely' to stay at Manchester United and will probably miss this clash. Mason Mount has sat out the last four games after limping off in the Manchester derby with a thigh issue. Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are also sidelined meaning that the youngster Leny Yoro will partner Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez in the three-man backline. Up front, Rasmus Hojlund will get the nod over Joshua Zirkzee, another player who is rumoured to be negotiating a move away from Old Trafford.
Our Arsenal vs Man UTD Predictions
Arsenal wasted plenty of chances against Newcastle. They recorded a XG (expected goals) of 3.1 - the highest record of a team that did not score in a match since July 2020. Anyway, the Gunners looked a bit fatigued and probably need new signings this month.
Man United will be looking to build on their impressive draw away at Liverpool last weekend. Defense remains a concern also under Ruben Amorim, as they are without a clean sheet in nine games and have conceded multiple times in all of their last five.
The Red Devils will probably sit deep before breaking with pace, as was the case of Eddie Howe's men in the Carabao Cup against Arsenal.
Ruben Amorim's men will be fresher than their opponents and this could be a deciding factor.
As a consequence, we back Man UTD to win or draw (Double Chance) and the Red Devils to qualify.
"Both teams to score" is also a good option, as well as Amad Diallo to have a shot on target.
As for the Correct Score, we recommend the 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
