RANGERS vs CELTIC BETTING PREVIEW
Rangers finished 39 points behind their arch-rivals when third in last season’s Premiership and currently occupy the same spot in the standings. Pedro Caixinha's men do come into this game on the back of a four match unbeaten streak in the league. They faced to Partick in the League Cup on Tuesday night, prevailing 3-1 after extra time. The last Old Firm Derby at Ibrox was one to forget for Rangers who lost 1-5 at the end of April. They have not beaten Celtic in a league fixture since the 3-2 success at Ibrox in March 2012.
Pedro Caixinha will be without Lee Wallace due to injury, but they are now sweating on the fitness of both Declan John and Bruno Alves after they limped off on Tuesday night. As a result, rookie centre-back Ross McCrorie should start alongside Fabio Cardoso. Up front, young Columbian Alfredo Morelos has been a revelation in attack, scoring his eighth goal of the season last weekend and is expected to lead the line alongside Kenny Miller. Gers midfielder Josh Windass is free to take on Celtic after he escaped a ban for his graphic gesture towards Jags supporters.
Celtic curently top the SPL stanings as they have won seven and draw just one league match so far. Brendan Rodgers' side have dropped points in a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone and sit two points ahead of Aberdeen and five clear of Rangers. The Hoops were recently given a rude awakening when thrashed 5-0 at home by Paris St Germain in their opening Champions League but bounced back just four days later to beat Ross County 4-0 in the SPL, meaning they have now gone 55 games since their latest domestic defeat. Celtic won five of their six competitive matches against Rangers last season, drawing the other. Both teams scored in all four of last season’s Old Firm derbies in the Scottish Premiership.
Moussa Dembele, who banked a hat-trick in the first Old Firm of last season, will spearhead the attack alongside Leigh Griffiths. The likes of Olivier Ntcham and Scott Sinclair will play out wide, with Scott Brown, Tom Rogic and James Forrest in the middle of the park. One fitness concern for the Hoops is defender Jozo Simunovic, who missed the cup quarter-final with a swollen leg. He will be assessed ahead of kick off, with either Dedryck Boyata or Nir Bitton likely to start in defence in his stead. Erik Sviatchenko and Eboue Kouassi are still out injured.
