SLOVAKIA U21 v ENGLAND U21 BETTING PREVIEW
Slovakia were very impressive in their opening match as they clinched a 2-1 win, coming from behind against hosts Poland. Their qualification record record was six wins, a draw and a defeat in a group that featured the Netherlands, Turkey, Belarus and Cyprus. They beat the Netherlands home and away en-route to the finals and have been scoring a lot of goals (14 in their last six games since September 2016). As consequence, Slovakia could be the very dark horse of the competition.Slovakia have a quite experienced team, as nearly a dozen of their squad already have senior international caps. Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Laszlo Benes is the star of the tournament and will feature from the off behind the lone striker Adam Zrelak. The likes of Albert Rusnak and Jaroslav Mihalik are likely to play out wide while Sampdoria defender Milan Skriniar will lead a four man backline, alongside Robert Mazan, Martin Valjent and Branislav Ninaj.
England were unbeaten in qualifying for the Poland tournament, winning six games and drawing two in a group including Norway, Switzerland, Kazakhstan and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Anyway, they were disappointing in their opening match against Sweden with the Young Lions relying on £30m Everton man Jordan Pickford to save a penalty and keep them in the match. They managed a sole effort on-target - a James Ward-Prowse's free-kick. Due to the U21 Euro Championship format, anything less than victory against group leaders Slovakia here would spell disaster and an early exit.
Under 21s manager Aidy Boothroyd isn’t expected to make too many changes for this clash. The four man backline will likely remain unchanged, with Mason Holgate, Calum Chambers, Alfie Mawson and Ben Chilwell playing from the off. In midfield, Jack Grealish could replaced Lewis Baker. Up front, Nathan Redmond and Tammy Abraham should retain their berth while Demaray Gray and Jacob Murphy are in contention fro the remaining spot.
