Manager Gary Rowett may hand recalls to Moritz Bauer and Bojan Krkic, while Sam Clucas has a knee injury and is out for the game. Mame Biram Diouf may replace the so far innocuous Saido Berahino and join Benik Afobe up front. New signing Cuco Martina could make an appearance, with Eric Pieters ready to play in midfield. James McClean will start out wide, with Joe Allen and Darren Fletcher likely to feature from the off in the middle of the park.
Sam Morsy may make way for Callum Connolly but summer buys Kai Naismith and Leo Da Silva Lopes are unlikely start as they build match fitness. Will Grigg will spearhead the attack, while Gavin Massey, Nick Powell and Michael Jacobs are expected to start as offensive midfielders. The likes of Reece James, Cedric Kipre, Cheyenne Dunkley and Antonee Robinson are expected to form the four man backline.

Wigan have collected four points from three Championship matches so far. They defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 at home on opening weekend, then lost to Aston Villa 3-2 and drew 2-2 at home against Nottingham. the dominant performance against a solid Forest side was a big positive. Wigan also went to Rotherham and lost 1-3 in the 1/64 of the Carabao Cup.
