If any group should be called the title of “Group of Death” in Brazil, it’s Group G. All four of its teams – GERMANY, PORTUGAL, the USA and GHANA – reached the knockout stage in 2010. Who will advance to the knockout stage and who will get sent home early? Find here a complete World Cup Group D betting preview with predictions, tips, odds, free bets and no deposit bonuses!
Despite only losing to Russia during qualifying, PORTUGAL finished second in the group meaning they qualified via the play-offs for the second successive World Cup, and it was Ronaldo who scored a brilliant hat-trick to secure a 4-2 aggregate win against Sweden. The issue with Portugal is that the team lacks the depth behind Ronaldo to match up with top teams. The defense was not great in WC qualifying and that is the main weakness of the squad and furthermore, the Portuguese team are sweating the fitness of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been suffering knee tendinitis.
USA did not start off solid in the World Cup qualification process with one win, one draw, and one loss in their first three matches. However, they won six of their last seven matches including their last three and topped the group ahead of Costa Rica, Honduras and Mexico with some ease. Last year, they had a 12-game winning streak that was started by a 4-3 friendly win over Germany (mostly second teamers). The squad has a good midfield, but their attack is not a great one and they have had issues defending set pieces. Jozy Altidore will likely be the first forward choice, but with how he’s performed at Sunderland this year, it’s hard to trust him. Furthermore, the controversy around Landon Donovan's omission from the team has been a distraction.
GHANA won five of their six games and then thrashed Egypt 7-3 on aggregate in the play-off game. On paper the Black Stars are one of the strongest African sides – reaching the semi-finals at each of the last four Africa Cup of Nations. The likes of Asamoah Gyan, Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng are the senior representatives in the squad but Andrè Ayew is the rising star. Ghana has knocked the United States out of each of the last two World Cups

WORLD CUP 2014 GROUP G BETTING PREVIEW
Group G will start out with a bang as European giants Germany and Portugal square off in the first group game. GERMANY reached the semi finals in 2010 and 2006 and were runners up in 2002. They had an impressive record through the qualification process going undefeated and scoring 36 goals in 10 games. Their only hiccup dropping points was an extraordinary 4-4 draw with Sweden – having led 4-0. As a team they have excellent cover in all positions but the array of talent in midfield is their main strength. Anyway, the recent injury to Marko Reus will be a huge blow.Despite only losing to Russia during qualifying, PORTUGAL finished second in the group meaning they qualified via the play-offs for the second successive World Cup, and it was Ronaldo who scored a brilliant hat-trick to secure a 4-2 aggregate win against Sweden.
