ATLETICO MADRID v BARCELONA BETTING PREVIEW
Barcelona claimed a 1-0 win when these two teams met in the 1st leg at Camp Nou last week, with Leo Messi scoring the deciding goal five minutes before the triple whistle.
Atletico Madrid have already knocked out city rivals and 2014 Copa del Rey winners Real Madrid in the previous round but their recent confidence has been significantly tarnished due to defeats to Barcelona in both league and cup matches. Influential midfielder Koke is doubtful and could be replaced by Raul Garcia. Diego Godin is out through suspension so Gimenez and Miranda will form the central back pair. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any selection surprises, though Fernando Torres may get a run out up top.
Barcelona have won their last six matches, scoring 23 goals and conceding just one, which came in the 3-1 league win over Atletico few weeks ago. The Blaugrana destroyed Elche with a 6-0 scoreling on Saturday to remain just a point adrift of Liga leaders Real Madrid. Barca have been in great goalscoring form but have also excelled defensively, keeping four clean sheets on the bounce.
Xavi is fully fit and ready for action, but should drop out of the side in favour of Andres Iniesta and Ivan Rakitic. Jeremy Mathieu has passed a fitness test and is available for selection. Luis Enrique will probably start with the second-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen between the posts. Douglas Pereira is out injured.
Barça and Atleti went face-to-face on six occasions last season and Atletico remained undefeated in all of those. The two sides have seen under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 direct matches in all competitions.
