Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid betting preview  

Atletico Madrid have lost only twice at home in La Liga since April 2017

Atletico will look to build on their most recent result - a 2-0 win over Mallorca on Wednesday. Prior to that, the Colchoneros were on a three match winless streak, having lost to Real Sociedad (2-0) and drawn twice at home with Juventus in Champions League (2:2) and Celta Vigo (0:0). A total of 13 points has left them in second spot, trailing leaders Real Madrid by just a single point in La Liga. Diego Simeone's men are undefeated in their last 10 home matches. These two club already met this season in the International Champions Cup and Atletico won the preseason game with a stunning 7-3 scoreline.
 
Alvaro Morata is suspended for the weekend clash with his former side. As a result, Diego Costa and Joao Felix are likely to continue to lead the line. Thomas Lemar's hamstring injury is expected to see Vitolo feature in a wide position, with Saul Niguez, Koke and Thomas Partey making up the midfield. Sime Vrsaljko and Borja Garces will also be missing. No changes are expected in defense, where Kieran Trippier and Renan Lodi should flank Stefan Savic and Jose Maria Jimenez.

Real Madrid have enjoyed a positive start in La Liga so far

Real Madrid come into the clash as league leaders and one of only two unbeaten sides left in. They are leading the way domestically with 14 points from a possible 18 so far. The Galacticos have kept two consecutive clean sheets in their last two league matches, restricting their opponents to zero shots on target. Zinedine Zidane’s men came away from Sevilla with a narrow 1-0 win last week and beat Osasuna 2-0 earlier this week. The Blancos suffered a 3-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League group opener and will host Bruges next Tuesday. As to direct matches in official competitions, four of the last five Madrid derbies have finished leve. Anyway, Real Madrid won 3-1 at the Wanda Metropolitano in the corresponding match during the 2018-19 campaign.

The visitors have concerns at left-back with Marcelo and Ferland Mendy both sidelined. Nacho and Dani Carvajal are likely to deputise as full back, with Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane paired at the heart of the back. Up front, the likes of Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema are all set to return having been left out against Osasuna. Brazilian teenagers Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. provide further options. In midfield, Isco remains a doubt due to a hamstring problem while Luka Modric could be involved having recovered from his injury. Marco Asensio is the only long-term injury for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
