BASEL vs MANCHESTER UTD BETTING PREVIEW 

Basel were soundly beaten 3-0 when they met Manchester UTD at Old Trafford in September, but they have since rallied to claim two victories that lifted them in 2nd position. The Swiss outfit hammered Benfica 5-0 and beat CSKA Moscow on the road but they suffered an unexpected home defeat at the hands of the Russian team in the previous round. Anyway, they will go through if they beat Mourinho's men and CSKA lose.Domestically, Raphael Wicky’s side lie second in the Swiss Super League, six points behind pace setters Young Boys. They beat 5-1 bottom side Sion at the weekend.

Taulant Xhaka is suspended for the hosts while Omar Gaber, Germano Vailati and Ricky van Wolfswinkel are all sidelined. As a result, Albian Ajeti will play as central striker, flanked by Renato Steffen and Dimitri Oberlin. The likes of Raoul Petretta and Micahel Lang will play as wing backs, while Luca Zuffi and Geoffrey Serey Die will start in the middle of the park. The three man backline will be formed by Manuel Akanji, Eder Balanta and Marek Suchy.



Manchester United go into Matchday Five sitting pretty at the top of Group A in Champions League with a flawless record of four wins from four matches, and having out-scored their opponents 10-1 during this perfect run. They only need a draw at Basel to secure the top spot. The Red Devils returned from the International break in fine style, with a 4-1 win over Rafa Benitez's Newcastle. They remain 2nd in the Premier League standings but trail league leader Manchester City by 8 points.

Saturday’s match against Newcastle saw the welcome return of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Frenchman made the starting XI after missing 12 games with a hamstring injury, while the Swede entered the fray with 15 minutes left to play. They are both expected to sit on bench but could play at some stage. Romelu Lukaku will lead the line, with Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard likely to start out wide. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was dropped from the squad at the weekend after a poor run of form and should be overlooked. Nemanja Matic will anchor the midfield with Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini on his flanks. In defense, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are both doubts, meaning that Victor Lindelof could partner Chris Smalling at the heart of the four man backline. The likes of Michael Carrick and Marcos Rojo remain out through injury.
