Mares' Chase Betting Preview
The Mrs Paddy Power Mares' Chase is the penultimate race on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival - it was introduced in 2021, so this will be the fifth renewal of this race.
The Grade 2 steeplechase, run over 2m4f on the New Course at Prestbury Park, replaces the Centenary Novices’ Handicap Chase (Close Brothers Novices’ Handicap Chase) on the programme.
And now we take a closer look at this year's Mares' Chase and try to determine which horse is likely to prevail.
Who will win the Mares' Chase 2025?
DINOBLUE was one of the top two-milers around last season and finished second to El Fabiolo in the Dublin Chase before being unable to reel in Limerick Lace when stepped up in trip for last year's Mares’ Chase. She got the better of Allegorie De Vassy when the two stablemates met at Naas recently
ALLEGORIE DE VASSY finished second and fourth in the two previous renewals of this race. She won on New Year’s Day at Fairyhouse but recently lost to Dinoblue in the BBA Ireland Limited Opera Hat Mares Chase at Naas. She seems to find less than expected under pressure, possibly due to breathing issues as she has always raced in a tongue tie.
LIMERICK LACE won last year's renewal in impressive fashion. She finished tenth in the Grand National at Aintree and her two runs this season offer little encouragement. The application of cheekpieces after a defeat at the hands of Allegorie De Vassy leaves her with something to prove.
BRIDES HILL missed last year's Festival due to bthe bad weather, but subsequently beat Allegorie De Vassy and Instit with a wide-margin success at the Punchestown Festival. She has been beaten on her two starts in Britain this term, but she was carrying a penalty on both occasions. She didn't run badly at all behind the progressive Telepathique when last seen at Huntingdon.
ROYALE MARGAUX was a dual winner over fences in France and has placed in both chase starts on the New Course for her current yard. She scored over hurdles at Warwick last time. She was running a career best in the Listed event and was fortunate enough to cash in when You Wear It Well tumbled at the last.
SHECOULDBEANYTHING completed a four-timer in December when winning a Listed contest at Bangor. Gordon Elliot's mare finished a respectable third behind Bioluminescence when last seen, and she will probably enjoy the shorter trip.
JE TAI PORTE and MAYHEM MYA are almost impossibile to fancy in this company. The former fell at the 6th at Listowel over in a chase won by Solness in September last year on her latest outing while the latter finished 12l behind Catch Him Derry when sixth of 12 on her latest outing in a hurdle race at Exeter.
