COLOMBIA v BRAZIL BETTING PREVIEW
Colombia currently sit in 2nd position, having earned 25 points from 15 games with a record of 7 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses in the CONMEBOL qualifications. In the last round, they have collected just one point against Venezuela (0-0) but prior to that Los Cafeteros won a pivotal away match against Ecuador by (0-2). They have been in fine form since their narrow friendly loss to Brazil (1-0) in late January, beating Bolivia (1-0), Ecuador (0-2), and Cameroon (0-4) and holding off Spain (2-2) and now Venezuela (0-0). Colombia are now unbeaten in the last three official games while keeping a clean sheet in each.
James Rodriguez missed Colombia's last match and is a major doubt. Jose Pekerman opted for Yimmi Chara to replace James last time out but this time Luis Muriel and Giovanni Moreno are expected to join Juan Cuadrado and Radamel Falcao in the attacking positions against the Brazilians. In midfield, Carlos Sanchez and Wilmer Barrios are expected to get the nod while Jeison Murillo, Santiago Arias, Christian Zapata and Frank Fabra will form the four man backline.
After Thursday’s 2-0 victory over Ecuador, Brazil have qualified for World Cup in Russia. They have been a class above every national team in the CONMEBOL Group in this qualification with 11 points ahead than second-placed Colombia. Along the way Tite's Brazil put on a show against Argentin, and a fantastic thrashing of Uruguay in the intimidating Estadio Centenario. They have only conceded one goal and scored 21 in their last seven matches. The Seleçao have narrowly beaten their rivals 2-1 with a 74’ winner from Neymar in their clash earlier this campaign.
Neymar and Gabriel Jesus are likely to lead the line in a 4-3-3 starting formation with Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino competing fro the third berth. In defense, boss Tite has called up defensive pair Alex Sandro and Jemerson for the trip to Barranquilla, after Marcelo was suspended and Miranda fell to injury. Anyway, Filipe Luis and Thiago Silva are likely to come in at left-back and centre-back respectively. Midfielder Fernandinho and Casemiro are in contention for a spot alongside Paulinho and Renato Augusto in the middle of the park.
