Denmark v France betting preview

Denmark are sturdy at the back and have enough quality in the final third

Denmark were able to edge past Peru (1-0) in their first outing in Russia, and then shared the spoils against Australia (1-1). As a result they take a three-point lead over the Aussies in their final group match and as long as they avoid defeat, the Danes will go through. A victory for the Danes would lift them above France, who are already through, as group winners. On the other hand, they can still crash out of the 2018 World Cup if they lose to France and Australia beat Peru, managing a two goal swing in the process. Denmark are unbeaten in their last 11 competitive matches.

Andreas Christensen was fit enough to start against Australia last time out and should retain his spot in defense, partnering Simon Kjaer as centre back. Yussuf Poulsen is suspended after the RB Leipzig man picked up another yellow card against Australia, with Martin Braithwaite the potential replacement. Lasse Schone and Thomas Delaney will anchor the midfield while Christian Eriksen and Pione Sisto will support the lone striekr Nicolai Jorgensen upfront. William Kvist is ruled out for Denmark after being stretchered off in their 1-0 win over Peru.

France have not looked like they are playing anywhere near their potential

France have already qualified for last 16 and will top the group with a point against Denamrk. Les Blues have opened their World Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory over Australia and followed that with a 1-0 win over Peru. A point against Denmark will be enough to see them clinch top spot in Group C and face the Group D runner up (probably Argentina or Iceland). France have won six of their last seven games against Denmark (L1), with the only defeat in that run coming in the 2002 World Cup.

Potentially Didier Deschamps could rest players for the next round in this final game. And we expect the French head coach to insert fresh legs in his starting XI. Samuel Umtiti is struggling with a thigh problem, meaning that Adil Rami or Presnel Kimpembe will deputise as a result. Thomas Lemar and Steven N'Zonzi are the other two new faces that could join N'Golo Kantè and Ousmane Dembelè in midfield with Nabil Fekir and Blaise Matuidi viable olternatives. Up front, Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud are the probable starters. Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappè are likely to be rested.
