ENGLAND vs BRAZIL BETTING PREVIEW
England won their qualifying group, remaining unbeaten and dropping points only against Slovenia and Scotland (both away). Anyway, their narrow victories over Slovakia, Slovenia and Lithuania highlighted an underwhelming campaign. The Three Lions recorded a goalless draw against the reigning world champions Germany few days ago, despite a number of absences. This will be the first meeting between England and Brazil since they played out a 2-2 draw in a friendly at the Maracana in 2013.
Gareth Southgate is facing a number of injuries to his senior representatives. He added Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn, Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke and Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook given that Jack Butland and Phil Jones joined Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph on the sidelines. As a result, Marcus Rashford and Jamie Vardy will lead the line while Jake Livermore, Eric Dier and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will start in the middle of the park. The likes of Ashley Young and Kyle Walker are expected to play as wing backs.
Brazil were one the first nations to secure the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification having won the CONMEBOL group by 10 points and losing only against Chile. They were both the top scorers, with 41, and best defence, conceding 11. Tite's men enter this clash on the back of a comfortable 3-1 friendly win over Japan at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille on Friday night, a result that extended their unbeaten run to six matches on the trot. The Seleçao have scored 4+ goals in six of their last 11 friendlies away from home. Brazil have lost only once to England in their last 10 meetings. The last time the Seleçao played at Wembley they were beaten 2-1, as Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard netted in a 2013 friendly.
Brazil head coach Tite is expected to field a combined squad with Neymar and Gabriel Jesus leading the way in attack. Philippe Coutinho wasn't fit enough to start last time but will return to compelte the attacking trio. That would see Willian dropping out the team. Roberto Firmino, Taison and Douglas Costa provide alternative options upfront. Fernandinho and Giuliano also had run-outs in midfield in Lille - but Daniel Alves, Miranda, Paulinho and Renato Augusto are likely to retunr in the starting XI.
