ENGLAND v SLOVAKIA BETTING PREVIEW
England are still undefeated with just two draws allowed in seven matches and enter this clash as group leaders after beating Malta 4-0 few days ago. They have won all their matches at Wembley without a goal conceded so far in the World Cup qualifiers. They did concede 2 goals in the away match against Scotland but they were the first and only goals they have conceded in this group. England’s two meetings with Slovakia in 2016 were desperately tight affairs - the first ended in a 0-0 draw during the Euro 2016 group stage while the second saw the Three Lions win the opening World Cup qualifier 1-0 courtesy of a 95th minute Adam Lallana winner. England have not lost a qualifying match at home since November 2007.
Gareth Southgate is expected to make a few changes from the side that played in La Valletta last week. Marcus Rashford's substitute appearance should earn him a start ahead of Raheem Sterling while Jesse Lingard and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are in contention for a starting berth as right offensive midfielder. Spurs duo Dele Alli and Harry Kane will retain their spot. Jamie Vardy and Danny Welbeck are further viable alternatives upfront. In defense, Michael Keane and John Stones have few chance to replace Phil Jones and Gary Cahill as centre-backs. Kieran Trippier has dropped out of the squad due to injury, while Jordan Pickford withdrew before the Malta game.
Slovakia kept within touching distance of England thanks to a 1-0 home win over Slovenia last time out as they only two points behind England in Group F. Jan Kozak's men have now won five straight in the group, after opening the campaign with successive defeats. They play attacking football and have already scored 12 goals in their campaign – two more than England. Slovakia have never beaten England with four defeats and a draw from five meetings with the Three Lions.
Manager Jan Kozak will welcome back experienced defenders Martin Skrtel and Jan Durica after suspension but goalkeeper Martin Dubravka will replace Matus Kozacik, who has been ruled out with a back injury. Adam Nemec is expected to spearhead the attack while Vladimir Weiss is favourite to get the nod over Albert Rusnak. The likes of Robert Mak, Marek Hamsik, Juraj Kucka and Stanislav Lobotka will complete the midfield of the 4-5-1 starting system.
