EURO 2016 GROUP C BETTING PREVIEW
Germany are the 2nd team in the betting, just behind hosts France. They will try to emulate Spain in winning the World Cup and the European Championship back to back. The route to Euro 2016 was not that comfortable for this side, even though they qualified as group winners, a point above Poland. Anyway, Poland beat them in qualifying and Die Mannschaft have struggled in recent friendlies as they have lost four of their last nine matches, including games against England and the Republic of Ireland. The Germans will have to do without influential Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus, who misses out through injurym and Philipp Lahm, retired.
Poland seem to be in pole position to seriously challenge Germany after finishing just one point behind Die Mannschaft in second place in their qualifying campaign. They beat the World Champions at home and the 3-1 loss in the re-match was their only defeat in the last two years. Robert Lewandowski scored 42 goals in 46 games in all competitions for Bayern Munich this season and with Arkadiusz Milik, form one of the best attacking duo of the competition. Defensively is where Poland can struggle and against Germany and Ukraine this will be a concern.
Ukraine were part of a 7-team qualification group and finished with 7 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses. They have won 10 of their last 16 matches in all competition and have shown exactly what they were capable of in the qualifying campaign by running Spain close twice. Anyway, they had to rely on a comprehensive, 3-1 play-off defeat of Slovenia in order to secure their progression to the European Championship Finals. Yevhen Konoplyanka and Andriy Yarmolenko are two top players up front but the goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov is error prone and the defence is unremarkable.
Northern Ireland are the real under dogs in this group. Nobody expects them to progress but were hugely impressive in topping Euro qualifying Group F by a point away from Romania with a W6-D3-L1 record. Anyway, that group was by far the weakest one. They are coming on the back of some strong form and are unbeaten in their last 12 matches including friendlies. They have a solid organisation, a combination of hard work and a strong team ethic in which no one player was seem as the superstar of the team. Kyle Lafferty and West Brom duo Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley are the most experienced players of the squad.
