EURO 2024 FAVOURITES
England stand tall as frontrunners while France loom as a formidable opponent and Germany seek redemption on home soil. But before providing our betting tips on which team is going to shine this summer and which team will struggle, we analyze the tournament's favourites and provide the best odds on each team to lift the trophy..
ENGLAND
England is considered the clear-cut favorite to take home the trophy. The top betting sites have all backed Gareth Southgate's team as the ones to beat, and it's difficult to dispute that sentiment. The Three Lions possess an incredibly formidable squad this year, with some standout players leading the charge.
Harry Kane, the prolific striker, has been in sensational form in the Bundesliga this season. Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham, the midfield maestro, has played a pivotal role in Real Madrid's success in La Liga and securing their 15th Champions League title. Together, they can form an unstoppable force on the pitch.
England came agonizingly close to tasting glory at the 2020 Euros after a long wait since their 1966 World Cup win. However, their dreams were shattered as they fell to Italy in a penalty shootout, missing three consecutive spot-kicks that sealed their fate with a 3-2 defeat.
FRANCE
England's biggest rival this summer will undoubtedly be France, who finished as runners-up in the 2022 World Cup. They managed to overcome England in the quarterfinals in Qatar but ultimately fell short in the final against Argentina despite Mbappè's heroic hat-trick. Les Bleus will be seeking revenge this summer in Germany. Head Coach Didier Deschamps will rely on his strongest starting eleven as they navigate through a challenging Group D against Poland, Netherlands, and Austria. However, it is fully expected that France will reach at least the Top 4.
GERMANY
Germany, as host nation, will be counting on their passionate fans for unwavering support and hoping it can provide them with much-needed motivation for success. Their recent performances in major international tournaments have been lackluster. However, under coach Julian Nagelsmann's guidance, Die Mannschaft has shown glimpses of resurgence with impressive victories over France and Netherlands earlier this year.
PORTUGAL
Portugal enters the competition after an impressing qualifying campaign where they mantained a 100% winning record. Despite aging, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 10 goals. The Seleçao, now managed by former Belgium manager Roberto Martinez, tasted a defeat in their most recent friendly match against Slovenia, a result that halted their impressive 11-game winning streak across all competitions.
SPAIN
Spain also achieved a remarkable feat during qualifying, winning all their 10 qualifiers. The team boasts young prodigies such as Lamine Yamal (16 years old), Nico Williams and Gavi alongside seasoned experts like Rodri and Alvaro Morata. Recent lackluster performances raise some concerns but La Roja possesses the potential to secure at least a spot in the semifinals.
CROATIA
Croatia rarely underperfom in big tournaments. The Blazers reached the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup with almost an entirely transformed squad from four years before. They also played good in the UEFA Nations league but ultimately suffered a heartbreaking loss on penalties in the final last June. They have been drawn in the Group of Death with Italy, Spain and Albania. Furthermore, overcoming Belgium and France could be required in order to reach the semis.
NETHERLANDS
Under the guidance of manager Ronald Koeman, the Netherlands have shown signs of progress. They secured second place in the qualifiers, trailing only behind France, with a decent record of 6 wins and 2 losses. Once again, they will face off against the Blues in the group stage. It is worth mentioning that the Oranje suffered a heartbreaking loss on penalties to eventual winners Argentina in the 2022 World Cup. Moreover, they recently demonstrated their prowess by defeating Scotland 4-0..
ITALY
Italy, the reigning champions, must regain their form before the summer if they aspire to retain their title. The Azzurri find themselves in a challenging group alongside Spain and Croatia. It is noteworthy that they failed to qualify for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and were clearly outperformed by England in the qualifiers for this tournament. New manager Luciano Spalletti has recently replaced Roberto Mancini. Things are improving but Italy clearly lack talent up front.
Long shots?
Turkey emerged as victors in their group, triumphing over both Croatia and Wales. They should not be underestimated as potential dark horses.Furthermore, Switzerland, Serbia, Denmark, Ukraine, and Scotland possess the capability to spring significant surprises.
EURO 2024 OUTRIGHT TIPS & PREDICTIONS
Is it coming home? Honestly, we believe England has the best chance to win a major tournament of the last three decades but we fear the Three Lions will fall at one of the last two hurdles. Actually, if they win the Group C, they will face on of the best third-placed teams (probably Austria, Romania or Turkey). Hence, the last-16 round could be an easy one for Southgate's men.Anyway, the Three Lions may find Italy and France in the quarterfinals and semifinals, meaning that their chances to reach the final are not that high.
We are backing Spain or France to win Euro 2024 this year with Spain vs France our favourite selection in the "name the Finalists" market. In our opinion, Portugal could be the dark horse of the tournament and we expect the Seleçao to make at least the semifinal.
Strugglers? We believe Italy and Belgium will struggle this summer.
Euro 2024 is the highlight sporting event of this summer and there is no shortage of betting sites offering free bets on the tournament.
