NETHERLANDS v ITALY BETTING PREVIEW
Netherlands are at the risk of missing out on yet another FIFA World Cup as they are in 4th position, six points off the top of Group A. They were beaten 2-0 by Bulgaria in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday and their federation moved quickly to dismiss Danny Blind as coach. Assistant coach Fred Grim has been promoted to caretaker manager but Clarence Seedorf, Frank De Boer and Louis Van Gaal are the main candidates to sit on the bench of the Oranjes for the next official games. They have won just one home match since September 2015 and conceded 10 goals in their last four friendly matches on home soil.Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is expected to start in his role as captain for the Netherlands, spearheading the attack alongside Bas Dost and Quincy Promes. With no Wesley Sneijder in the team, the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Davy Propper and Marteen De Roon are expected to start in the middle of the park. In defense, Bruno Martins Indi is likely to get the nod as well as right back Rick Karsdorp while Stefan De Vrij is a major doubt and could be replaced by Wesley Hoedt. Man United's Daley Blind is likely to retain his starting berth as left back.
Italy beat 2-0 Albania at home on Saturday and they are 2nd to Spain on goal difference in their group with four wins and one draw (with Spain). The Azzurri are on an unbeaten run of seven games since last year's defeat to France (3:1) in an International Friendly. The other friendly match ended in a goalless draw against Germany. The Italians are unbeaten in their last three games against the Netherlands, winning five of the last eight.
Leonardo Bonucci is one of the only veterans as Italy test a very young 3-4-3 formation. He will be partnered by Daniele Rugani and Alessio Romagnoli in the three man backline. 18-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma looks set for his first senior Italy start while Matteo Darmian and impressive Torino wing-back Davide Zappacosta take the wide roles. Inter Milan's midfielder Roberto Gagliardini is likely to make his debut. Up front, Andrea Belotti, Eder and Antonio Candreva are expected to lead the line. Andrea Barzagli has been released from the Italy squad due to personal reasons while Manolo Gabbiadini is sidelined with an injury.
