England travel to Vilnius for their final Group F World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Sunday evening. LITHUANIA vs ENGLAND BETTING PREVIEW
Lithuania, who have won just one of their last twelve matches, were unable to beat Malta on Thursday night (1-1), the only team they managed to beat in the qualifiers with a 2-0 home victory. Prior to that point they had lost six matches on the bounce, five being qualifiers. In the reverse fixture at Wembley in March, Lithuania suffered a 2-0 defeat as Jermain Defoe and Jamie Vardy went on the scoresheet. The nations also met twice during qualifying for Euro 2016, with England scoring seven goals without reply during the two games.
The hosts have no new injury concerns and could line up in the same XI that started last time out, a 4-5-1 formation in which Nerijus Valskis will play as lone forward. The two Hibernian players in their ranks - midfielders Vykintas Slivka and Deivydas Matulevicius - are expected to feature from the off. Goalkeepers Emilijus Zubas and Ernestas Setkus are in contention for a starting berth.
England made sure of qualification with a laboured 1-0 home win over Slovenia at Wembley on Thursday night, courtesy of a Harry Kane's injury-time winner. That was their seventh win from nine games in Group F. Southgate's charges have conceded just three goals to date in this campaign and are top scorers in the group with 17. Anyway, the Three Lions are yet to put in a genuinely entertaining or inspirational performance under Southgate.
Gareth Southgate may be tempted to experiment with formations and lineups. Dele Alli returns from suspension and could start alongside Jesse Lingard in a 3-4-2-1 formation, behind the lone striker Daniel Sturridge or Jamie Vardy. The likes of Harry Winks and Harry Maguire will be hopeful of senior England debuts. Aaron Cresswell and Michael Keane will all be pushing for a start, while Jack Butland, Jordan Pickford and Fraser Forster will be hopeful of a stint in goal.
