Lyon enter this match full of confidence (and huge underdogs)

Lyon have already claimed the scalps of both Juventus and Manchester City. Against the Italian champions, Rudy Garcia's men progressed on away goals after a 1-0 home win and 2-1 defeat in Turin. Against Man City, they surprisingly won 3-1. Maxwell Cornet’s 24th-minute opener was cancelled out by Kevin De Bruyne in the second half, but substitute Moussa Dembele settled the issue with a late double. Despite finishing seventh in a Ligue 1 table that was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic, the French giants have proven that they are much better than what their domestic league table suggests.

Lyon left-back Youssouf Kone is injured and midfielder Lucas Tousart was sold to Hertha Berlin. Karl Toko Ekambi has surprisingly started the last two Champions League matches ahead of Moussa Dembele, but we expect Dembele to feature from the off this time. No changes are expected elsewhere, meaning that Maxence Caqueret, Bruno Guimaraes and Houssem Aouar will link up in midfield, with Maxwel Cornet and Leo Dubois as wing backs. The three man backline will be formed by Marcelo, Marcal and Jason Denayer.

Bayern Munich tore Barcelona to pieces in the quarter-final finals with an 8-2 victory, meaning they have scored 12 goals in the last two Champions League outings (they beat Chelsea 4-1 on August 8th). That was a 19th consecutive victory for the Bavarians, who have won 24 of the 25 matches they have played since January. The exception was a stalemate with fellow semi-finalists RB Leipzig. Hansi Flick's men are vulnerable at the back but they score for fun and look unstoppable.

Benjamin Pavard returned to training and is back in contention for this semi-final. Anyway, we expect Joshua Kimmich to retain his starting berth as right back. Kingsley Coman is pushing for a recall in place of Ivan Perisic and to complete the offensive midfield trio behind lone striker Robert Lewandowski, alongside Thomas Muller and Serge Gnabry. A further option is Philippe Coutinho, who scored twice against Barcelona. Thiago Alcantara and Leon Goretzka will play in the middle of the park as usual.
