MANCHESTER UTD vs DERBY COUNTY BETTING PREVIEW
Manchester United warmed up for this clahs with victory at Everton in midweek (0:2) courtesy of two quality strikes from Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard. That win was their first victory in five games in all competitions, a run included a League Cup exit to Bristol City disappointing draws against the likes of Leicester City, Burnley and Southampton. These two sides have met each other in the early stages of the FA Cup two years ago when Man UTD picked up a 1-3 victory at iPro Stadium.
Romelu Lukaku is back in contention to start after he sustained a head injury in the 0-0 draw against Southampton. The Belgium International will spearhead the attack, supported by Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mhkitaryan out wide. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still sidelined while Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard could play at some stage. In midfield, Marouane Fellaini is also available following five weeks out injured but he is likely to be benched, with Mourinho expected to play with Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay in the middle of the park. The likes of Sergio Romero, Axel Tuanzebe, Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo should form the defensive package. Ashley Young serves the second game of a three-match ban.
Derby County are second in the Championship following a particularly fruitful festive period, as they won five and drawing two of last seven matches. The Rams sit 2nd in the table 12 points adrift of leaders Wolves and with a two-point cushion over Cardiff City in third. They managed to earn only a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United at iPro Stadium on Monday and have not lost away from home since September.
Derby boss Gary Rowett will make changes to his side and could decide to hold his best players back with a view on their strong Championship campaign. Joe Ledley is doubtful, but Tom Lawrence and left-back Martin Olsson should both recover in time to feature at Old Trafford. David Nugent is expected to lead the line, with Andreas Weimann and Matej Vydra joining Lawrence in the offensive midfield trio. Tom Huddlestone and Bradley Johnson should anchor the midfield while Marcus Olsson, Curtis Davies, Richard Keogh and Andre Wisdom are likely to form the four man backline.
