Man City are unbeaten in the league & have kept a clean sheet in 6 of their 7 seven

Manchester City are flying high at the top of the Premier League table. They dropped only two points thus far, sit nine points ahead of their Manchester rivals and with a whopping goal difference of plus 29. The Citizens hammered Southampton 6-1 last time out in the Premier League with Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sanè both scoring a brace. Those six goals meant the Citizens have the best attack of the league with 33 goals so far – an average of 3 goals per game. Pep Guardiola's men very rarely drop points in front of their own supporters and the only match they lost at home last season actually occurred against Man UTD where they led 2-0 before getting overturned in the second half by an inexplicable comeback.

Kevin De Bruyne is a long-term absentee for the hosts, with Claudio Bravo and Eliaquim Mangala also sidelined. Sergio Aguero and Benjamin Mendy were given the night off in Wednesday's 6-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk and are expected to feature from the off. The former will lead the line while the latter will complete the four man backline, alongside Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Kyle Walker. The obvious selection dilemma for Pep Guardiola is who to bench out of Leroy Sane, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling while Ilkay Gundogan will perhaps challenge Bernardo Silva for a start in the midfield trio.

Manchester UTD enter this fixture fresh from their late smash and grab against Juventus (1-2) in Champions League on Tuesday. That made it three successes in a row for Josè Mourinho's men. The Red Devils have trailed in five of their last six matches and fought back to win three of them. Defense remain a concern as only five teams – Burnley, Southampton, Huddersfield, Cardiff and Fulham – have conceded more away goals than United's tally of ten. The Reds have a positive record in recent derbies - they have lost just twice in eight derby meetings (W4-D2-L2) since 2014

Romelu Lukaku has missed Manchester United's last two matches but will likely make the squad here. Alexis Sanchez is likely to play as false nine once again. Jesse Lingard made his first start since returning from injury in Turin, though could make way for Juan Mata or Marcus Rashford on the right flank while Anthony Martial will retain his starting berth on the other side. Paul Pogba is not 100% fit but the Frenchman should anchor the midfield with Fred and Nemanja Matic. Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini are the other options in the middle of the park. The likes of Diogo Dlaot and Antonio Valencia remain sidelined.
