MANCHESTER UTD v MANCHESTER CITY BETTING PREVIEW
Man UTD's 2017 preseason is off to a great start with the Jose Mourinho winning each of their first two matches - 5:2 over LA Galaxy and 2:1 over Real Salt Lake. The Red Devils had an eye-catching summer so far in the transfer market. Jose Mourinho has signed defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica and striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton. Anyway, talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic and skipper Wayne Rooney have both left the team.Romelu Lukaku has scored his first goal for the club last time out and is expected to retain his berth as lone striker. Mourinho has also brought talented youngsters such as Scott McTominay, Joel Pereira, Axel Tuanzebe, and Guillermo Varela and they could all play at some stage. Juan Mata is not likely to feature after sustaining a minor ankle injury in the win over Real Salt Lake, but Matteo Darmian could play a part after recovering from a nasty collision and joining in with training ahead of the game.
Manchester City have not been in action since their 5-0 win over Watford on the final day of the Premier League season. They clearly failed to deliver expectation last season and have started a re-build of the team. More and more of the old-guard have left the club. Pablo Zabaleta has gone, as has Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, and Jesus Navas while Joe Hart has joined West Ham on loan. Given that it is City's first pre-season game, Guardiola may be inclined to rotate his squad more than Mourinho, with games against Real Madrid and Tottenham coming in quick succession next week.
Two new signings - goalkeeper Ederson and right back Kyle Walker - are not expected to feature from the off. Anyway, Pep Guardiola can count on all the other big guns, including Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, and Gabriel Jesus. Among the other interesting inclusions in the Blues’ squad are Ilkay Gundogan, who missed much of last season with a knee injury. The likes of Yaya Tourè and Leroy Sanè will join up with their team-mates later, while Bernardo Silva who is missing the tour having been in the Portugal team that played at the Confederations Cup last month. Youngsters Brahim Diaz, Phil Foden, Daniel Grimshaw and Aro Muric have all travelled and are available for selection.
