MANCHESTER UTD v BASEL BETTING PREVIEW 

Manchester UTD had an impressive start to the Premier League season with 10 points from a possible 12, having recorded three wins in a row against West Ham (4-0 at home), Swansea (4-0 away) and Leicester (2-0 at home) before to share the spoils with Stoke City (2-2) on Saturday.
The Red Devils have a strong home record under Jose Mourinho having won five and drawn two of their seven European matches at Old Trafford last season. As to direct encounters, Basel have twice visited the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ in European competition and twice they have returned home with a draw.

Suspensions to Eric Bailly and Phil Jones have made this match a tougher assignment for Jose Mourinho's men. The Portuguese manager is expected to play with Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof as centre-backs, with Daley Blind a further option. Juan Mata started Saturday's draw on the bench but should be recalled to the starting XI in the offensive midfield trio behind the lone striker Romelu Lukaku. The likes of Marouane Fellaini, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young are injury doubts while Marcos Rojo is ruled out with a  knee injury.



Basel have made an underwhelming start to the season, taking 11 points from their opening seven games - 10 fewer than what they had at this point last season. They lie third in the Swiss Super League and are without a win in their last three games. The most recent match saw Basel suffering a home defeat to FC Lausanne, a loss that followed two 1-1 draws against FC Lugano and FC Sion. They've netted 12 times in their opening seven league games of the season, making them the second-highest-scoring team in Switzerland. Anyway, their defense has been shaky so far, conceding at least one goal in the last four competitive outings.

Former Norwich City and Sporting striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel will lead the line of the Swiss outfit's 4-5-1 system. Taulant Xhaka, who is the brother of Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, will be the playmaker with Kevin Bua and Luca Zuffi in a more offensive position. In defense, Michael Lang and Blas Riveros will start as full backs while Marek Suchy, Manuel Akanji and Eder Balanta are in contention for the two starting berths as centre backs.
