Italy are trying to rebuild after missing the World Cup

Italy are bottom of League A's Group 3 after a draw and a defeat in their opening two matches. They enter this clash on the back of a 1-1 draw with Ukraine in a friendly last Wednesday evening. That result means that the Azzurri have gone five matches without a win on home soil, and it's only the second time in ther history. They have now picked up just two victories in their last 12 games - against Saudi Arabia and Albania. Federico Bernardeschi scored for Italy last Wednesday and should lead the line once again, so Ciro Immobile may have to make do with a place on the bench once more. Federico Chiesa and Lorenzo Insigne are likely to retain their starting berth out wide. In midfield, Jorginho and Marco Verratti look sure starters while Lorenzo Pellegrini and Roberto Gagliardini are among those hoping to come into the midfield at the expense of debutant Nicolo Barella. No changes are expected in defense with Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci as central pair, Alessandro Florenzi and Cristiano Biraghi as full backs.
