POLAND v NORTHERN IRELAND BETTING PREVIEW
Poland finished just one point behind Germany in second place in their qualifying campaign, beating the World Champions 2-1 on their own turf. The 3-1 loss in the re-match was their only defeat in the last two years. Nawalka’s team have won six and lost only one of their last nine matches in all formats coming into this fixture. However, they have failed to win their last two international outings, falling to a 2-1 defeat to Netherlands before being held to a 0-0 draw with Lithuania.Adam Nawalka has no injury concerns and he is expected to field the strongest possible eleven. Robert Lewandowski, who netted 13 league goals in qualifying, is expected to spearhead the attack, supported by Arkadiusz Milik. Wojciech Szczesny will start between the posts, meaning that both Artur Boruc and Lukasz Fabianski will sit on the bench.
Northern Ireland is the surprise package of the EUro Championship. They topped Euro qualifying Group F by a point away from Romania with a W6-D3-L1 record.
Furthermore, they come into this fixture unbeaten in 12 matches stretching back to March 2015 – winning six and drawing six. They have a solid organisation, a combination of hard work and a strong team ethic with no superstars in the team.
Kyle Lafferty, whose seven goals were instrumental in their qualification, is a major doubt and could be replaced by Conor Washington or Jamie Ward while WIll Grigg looks sure to start upfront. Watford defender Craig Cathcart is carrying a knock, but he is expected to recover in time start to partner West Brom pair Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley in defense. Other than that, Michael O'Neill has no further injury concerns ahead of this pivotal clash.
