Rangers v Liverpool Betting Preview
Rangers have lost all three games in this competition so far, including to Liverpool at Anfield Road last week (2-0), conceding 9 goals. They are yet to score a goal in the competition but will be keen to salvage something from their return to Champions League football. The Gers were comfortable 4-0 winners over St Mirren at the weekend and sit 2nd in the Scottish Premiership. They will try to finish third in Group A to secure a place in the knockout stages of the Europa League, a competition they almost won few months ago.
After a heavy 4-1 defeat against Napoli in the opening-day, Jurgen Klopp’s team fought back with back-to-back wins over Ajax and Rangers. Should they win at Ibrox, Jurgen Klopp's men will have good chances to qualify for the knockout-stage. Domestically, they already sit 14 points off the top of the Premier League table. The Reds were beaten 3-2 by league leaders Arsenal at the weekend, meaning they have now won only two of eight top-flight games so far this season. An injury crisis and a crisis of confidence have combined to make for a very tricky period for the Merseysiders.
Best Odds
The Merseysiders are favorites to win this clash, as Liverpool to win is priced at 2/5 with STS. The draw is backable at 19/4 with 10bet while Rangers are 17/5 to win with Bet365.
Team News & Probable Line-Ups
Rangers (4-2-3-1): McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic; Davis, Lundstram; Tilman, Sakala, Kent; Colak
Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be without Tom Lawrence on Wednesday. He has joined the likes of Filip Helander, John Souttar, Kemar Roofe and Ianis Hagi in the treatment room. With no goals from their opening three matches, the Dutch manager may opt to start Antonio Colak, who scored twice against St Mirren, in place of Alfredo Morelos. The three offensive midfielders should be Ryan Kent, Steven Davis and Malik Tillman. James Sands is back from a European suspension although may not return to the starting XI. No changes are exected at the back.
Liverpool (4-3-3): Allison; Gomez, Konate, Van-Dijk, Tsimikas; Thiago, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Nunez, Firmino
The Reds' disappointing campaign has been dealt another big blow with Luis Diaz out for up to eight weeks. Jurgen Klopp may revert to his usual 4-3-3 with Diogo Jota and Mo Salah flanking Darwin Nunez upfront. Roberto Firmino provides a further offensive option. At the back, Ibrahima Konate is expected to partner Virgil Van Dijk, with Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas starting as full backs since Trent-Alexander Arnold and Andrew Robertson are out through injury. Curtis Jones, Joel Matip, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain are also sidelined.
Our Rangers v Liverpool Predictions
Rangers enjoyed an impressive Europa League campaign last season but the step up to the Champions League group stage has been extremely tough for them.
With this in mind, we think Liverpool will come out on top despite they are struggling with injuries and performances in recent weeks.
With many absences in the Reds' backline, we back Liverpool to win & both teams to score. The 3-1 scoreline is our pick in the correct score market, and we also fancy Darwin Nunez in the Anytime Goalscorer market.
