Real Madrid vs Manchester City Betting Preview
Real Madrid recorded a late 3-2 away win at Manchester City in the first leg, courtesy of two goals scored by Brahim Diaz and Jude Bellingham in the final minutes. They are top of LaLiga having lost just three times all season, but they only managed to draw at Osasuna (1-1) over the weekend. In Champions League, Carlo Ancelotti's men have beaten Stuttgart (3-1), Borussia Dortmund (5-2) and Salzburg (5-1) in the League Phase, but suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of AC Milan. In all four games, both teams found the back of the net.
Manchester City returned to winning ways on Saturday with an impressive win over Newcastle (4-0) at Etihad, courtesy of a hat-trick scored by Omar Marmoush and a late goal from the youngster James McAtee. They are 4th in the Premier League standings and trail league Liverpool by a whopping 16 points and have already lost 7 league games, four more than they did last season. In Champions League they have lost 4 of the 9 games played so far. On their travels they have beaten Slovan Bratislava 4-0 back in October, but then have lost three on the bounce against Sporting Lisbon (4-1), Juventus (2-0) and PSG (4-2).
Man City are out for revenge after their penalty shootout exit against the Spanish club at the quarter-final stage of last season. Anyway, the Blancos have a solid run of direct encounters against Guardiola's men when playing them at the Santiago Bernabeu - winning three and drawing two, only losing once.
Best Odds
Los Blancos go into this game as favorites. The hosts are 19/20 (1.95) to win the 2nd leg in front of their own fans. Man City are 5/2 (3.50) chances to come away with a win. The draw is backable at 10/3 (or 4.40 with non-Uk bookies).
Probable Line-Ups
Real Madrid (4-3-3): Courtois; Alaba; Rudiger, Asencio, Mendy; Camavinga, Valverde, Tchouameni; Bellingham; Mbappe, Vinicius Jr
Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that both David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger are available for this second leg. Assuming both will feature from the off, Aurelien Tchouaméni will return to midfield with Dani Ceballos making room. Éder Militão, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez remain sidelined long-term, meaning that Raul Asencio will start at heart of the back. Up front, Jude Bellingham will support the front duo Vinicius Jr. and Mbappè, with Rodrygo proving a further option.
Manchester City (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Gvardiol, Stones, Dias, Nunes; Kovacic, Gonzalez; Marmoush, De Bruyne, Foden; Haaland
The Cityzens will have been sweating on the fitness of Erling Haaland in recent days. the Norwegian is expected to lead the line, even if not 100% fit. Kevin de Bruyne was rested against Newcastle and is likely to come back into the side at the Bernabeu. Manuel Akanji is facing 10 weeks out with a thigh injury having undergone surgery, meaning that Nathan Akè, John Stones and Ruben Dias will start at the back, with Matheus Nunes favorite for the right-back berth. Up front, Omar Marmoush will retain his berth as left winger, with Phil Foden in contention with Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish for the remaining berth.
Real Madrid vs Manchester City Betting Tips
We predicted Real Madrid to win 3-2 last week, and we expect another high-scoring affair at the Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti's men have not kept a clean sheet in their last 8 Champions League matches while Man City have scored two or more goals in 7 of their last 9 away UCL games.
The Cityzens have lost plenty of matches so far but La Liga giants are also struggling. They have loist on seven occasions in all competitions since the start of October, having only lost once inside 90 minutes in all of last season.
As a result, we back the "Both teams to score" option and the 2-2 Correct Score.
As for players, Omar Marmoush is the in-form player for the visitors but we go for Vinicius Jr. to score anytime.
