England breezed into the last eight as Group C winners, collecting maximum points from three games by beating 2-0 all their opponents - Czech Republic, Israel and Germany. Against the Germans, Cameron Archer and Harvey Elliot scored first-half goals and condamned the reigning champions to an early exit. Six goals scored and none conceded for the Young Lions means they recorded the best goal difference in the group stage and remain the only team yet to concede a goal.Portugal won just one of their their three group stage fixtures - although their group did feature co-hosts Georgia, Netherlands and Belgium. They finished second in Group A, shockingly behind tournament co-hosts Georgia, who defeated the Portuguese 2-0 in their opener. The Iberians followed up with a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands and needed an 89th minute winning penalty from Tiago Dantas to clinch a vital 2-1 victory over Belgium in the final game.
The two sides have clashed on 11 occasions, and Portugal lead 6-4. Their most recent meeting in the group stage of the 2021 Euros saw Portugal win 2-0.

England U21 are clearly odds-on favourites here after a such convincing group stage. Lee Carsley's men are 19/20 to beat the Iberians with Ladbrokes.

Lee Carsley rotated his side for the final game of Group C, making eight changes to the starting line-up. Cameron Archer was impressive but he is lkely to be benched, as Morgan Gibbs-White and and Noni Madueke will complete the front trio. At the back the well-rested Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Levi Colwill will return to the heart of the backline.

Rui Jorge may be tempted to keep faith with most of the starting XI who beat Belgium last time out. Pedro Neto, Fabio Silva and Francisco Conceiçao are likely to lead the line, with Vitinha and Henrique Araujo providing further alternatives. In the middle of the park, Tiago Dantas should be joined by Joao Neves and Samu Costa while Penetra and Andre Amaro will be paired at the heart of the backline. Nuno Tavares and Josè Carlos are expected to start as full backs.
