Manchester City vs Arsenal Betting Preview
Arsenal are currently five points clear of Man City in the league, with a game in hand. The Gunners enter this clash on the back of a brilliant 3-2 victory against Manchester United over the weekend. Mikel Arteta's men are unbeaten in seven games (W6 D1), and boast the second-best offense of the Premier League (behind the Cityzens) and the second-best defense behind Newcastle. In the FA Cup third round, Arsenal eased past Oxford United 3-0 at the Kassam Stadium.
Manchester City recorded comfortable 3-0 victory over Wolves last weekend. A back-to-back win after an entertaining 4-2 over Tottenham that helped the Cityzens to mantain unchanged their 5-points gap behind league leaders Arsenal. Anyway, prior to that Man City suffered two straight defeats - 2:0 against Southampton in the Carabao Cup and 2-1 against Manchester UTD in Premier League. As to the Emirates FA Cup, Pep Guardiola's men thumped Chelsea 4-0 in the third round to set up this tie.
In terms of direct encounter, Arsenal won their last FA Cup meeting, a 2-0 semi-final win in 2020. The last time these two teams met in the league, a late strike from midfielder Rodri secured a victory for the Cityzens.
Best Odds
Probable Line-Ups
Manchester City (4-3-3): Ortega; Walker, Laporte, Akanji, Gomez; Silva, Rodri, Gundogan; Mahrez, Alvarez, Haaland.
Pep Guardiola has no new injury worries after Phil Foden returned to training earlier this week. John Stones and Ruben Dias are fit again, though the latter may not be risked after a long spell on the sidelines. Erling Haaland should continue to lead the attack, flanked by Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez. Should Guardiola decide to rest the current top goalscorer, Jack Grealish should feature from the off and Alvarez would play as centre forward.
Arsenal (4-3-3): Turner; Tomiyasu, Saliba, Holding, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Partey, Xhaka; Trossard, Nketiah, Martinelli.
Former Man City striker Gabriel Jesus and midifielder Mohamed Elneny are sidelined and will miss this clash. The other ex-City man Oleksandr Zinchenko may be ready for this reunion as left-back, with Takehiro Tomiyasu oth the other flank. Up front, there could be a full Arsenal debut for £27m signing Leandro Trossard, alongside Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli. Hence, in-form Bukayo Saka could be initially rested. Emile-Smith Rowe provides a further options, despite he lacks match fitness. Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta faces a dilemma as to who he starts in goal, with Matt Turner usually given the nod over Aaron Ramsdale in cup fixtures.
Our Manchester City vs Arsenal Predictions
It's hard to separate these two teams at this stage of the season. Man City will have home advantage but Arsenal looks harder to break defensively.
The Gunners are in better form overall and should be flying on confidence. As a result, we back Arsenal to win or draw (Double Chance) and the both teams to score option.
The 2-2 is our favorite pick in the correct score market, meaning the teams will need the replay match to decide who advances in this competition.
A further smart bet is "A goal to be scored in the first half" at Evens, a price boost offered by William Hill to BetAndSkill readers (was 1/4).
Granit Xhaka to receive a card also sounds good to us as you can see in our recommended bet builder.
