Chelsea vs Arsenal betting preview
Chelsea currently sit 4th in the Premier League having collected 18 points in the first 10 matchweeks. Enzo Maresca's men are keeping the Gunners out of the Champions League places by virtue of a superior goal difference. They were unlucky to come away from the match with Manchester UTD last weekend with a 1-1 draw. The Blues are also playing the Conference League this season. They are top of the table with maximum points and 16 goals from three games, including Thursday’s 8-0 annihilation of Armenian side Noah.
Arsenal are without a win in their last three Premier League games and now trail table toppers Liverpool by 7 points. The Gunners suffered a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth in mid-October, then the managed to draw 2-2 with Liverpool at home and lost 1-0 at Newcastle last weekend. They have only won two of their six most recent games in all competitions. Mikel Arteta's men have only managed one win in their last six on the road, and that came at Preston in the EFL Cup. As to the Champions League, they suffered the first defeat on Wednesday at Stadio San Siro against Inter Milan (1-0).
As to direct encounters, Chelsea have won just one of their last nine Premier League games against Arsenal (D2 L6). The Gunners have won three of the last four visits to Stamford Bridge (D1). They rescued a 2-2 draw last season despite trailing 2-0 in the 76th minute. In the second half of last season, at Emirates, Arsenal recorded a 5-0 dismantling of Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea.
Best Odds
Football betting sites are struggling to split the pair ahead of kick-off at Stamford Bridge with the Gunners marginal favourites at 13/8 (2.65). Chelsea are backable at 9/5 (2.80), while the draw is available at 5/2 (or 2.65 on non-UK betting sites).
Probable Line-Ups
Chelsea (4-3-3): Sanchez; Cucurella, Fofana, Colwill, James; Caicedo, Fernandez, Lavia; Palmer, Neto, Jackson
Cole Palmer picked up a knock against Manchester United last weekend but should recover in time for this one. Other than Palmer and Jadon Sancho, who is fighting his way back from a knock and illness, Chelsea have a fully fit squad. As a result, Pedro Neto, Mikhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke are in contention for a starting berth, while Nicolas Jackson will retain his place as central striker. At the back Malo Gusto should get the nod over Malo Gusto, while Rome Lavia is likely to join Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in the middle of the park.
Arsenal (4-4-2): Raya; Timber. Gabriel, Saliba, White; Partey, Jorginho, Saka, Martinelli; G. Jesus, Havertz
Declan Rice missed the game against Inter Milan in midweek with a toe problem and is a major doubt for this London derby. Mikel Arteta did welcome captain Martin Ødegaard back in the latter stages of the trip to Milan but the Norwegian skipper is likely to benched again. Mikel Merino is also struggling with illness, meaning that Jorginho and Ethan Nwaneri are all possibilities alongside Thomas Partey in the engine room. Up front, Kai Havertz is not 100% fit after a blow to the head in midweek. Gabriel Jesus could get a look-in even if Havertz is fit after some dire recent displays from Leandro Trossard, while loanee Raheem Sterling won’t be able to face his parent club.
Chelsea v Arsenal Betting Tips
It will be a fierce battle at Stamford Bridge as neither team can afford to drop points.Enzo Maresca has opted to field a B team in Thursday's Conference League match, so the Blues will be surely fresher than Arteta's men.
The Gunners lost two straight Premier League away games without scoring but the Blues are still yet to keep a Premier League clean sheet at Stamford Bridge this season, so the "Both teams to score" option is recommended. Of course, we will take advantage of Parimatch price boost on the BTTS bet. The 1-1 draw is our pick in the Correct Score market while "Chelsea to win or draw" is our tip as Double Chance.
Chelsea's 38 bookings was the highest tally in the Premier League entering the weekend, so we back the Blues to receive the most cards.
