Liverpool v Arsenal Betting Preview
Liverpool currently sit 2nd in the Premier League table after 17 games. The Reds have 11 wins, five draws and one loss, leaving them on 38 points, just one point behind Arsenal and on equal points with Aston Villa. Jurgen Klopp's men booked their place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals in midweek hammering West Ham 5-1 at home. Anyway, they only managed to draw 0-0 at Anfield against a struggling Man UTD site last weekend, a result that ended a three-match winning streak in the league but extended to 10 matches their unbeaten run.
Arsenal sit just above Liverpool at the top of the Premier League. In 17 games, the Gunners have 12 wins, three draws and two losses which leaves them on 39 points, one point ahead of both Liverpool and Aston Villa. Mikel Arteta's men defeated Brighton 2-0 at Emirates last weekend, returning to winning ways after two winless outings - a 1:0 defeat at Aston Villa and 1:1 draw at PSV Eindhoven in Champions Laague.
You have to go all the way back to September 2012 to find the last time the Gunners triumphed at Liverpool’s home ground. Since then, Arsenal have never triumphed in 90 minutes in 13 meetings in all competitions. Mikel Arteta's men will be hoping to make amends for throwing away a two-goal lead in last season's corresponding fixture in April (2-2), which ultimate proved costly in the title race.
Probable Line-ups
Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Szoboszlai, Endo, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister missed the EFL Cup clash against West Ham and they remain major doubts to face the Gunners. The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz were all rested in midweek and will return to the starting XI while Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez are in contention for the centre forward role. In the middle of the park, Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo are expected to join Dominic Szoboszlai. Thiago Alcantara, Ben Doak, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic and Andrew Robertson remain sidelined.
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Rice, Havertz; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.
Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny are still out through injury but Jorginho may return to the Arsenal squad. Arteta could be unchanged, keeping Kai Haverz in the midfield trio alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. Up front, Gabriel Jesus should get the nod over Eddie Nketiah once agian, with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli keeping their starting berth out wide. At the back, the only possible change could see Oleksandr Zinchenko making room to Jakub Kiwior.
Best Odds
Liverpool are slightly favourites here - at 31/20 with Unibet - to make home advantage count. The draw is backable at 13/5 at QuinnBet while Arsenal to win is priced at 19/10 with BetUK.
Very interesting odds are provided by Parimatch (40/1 Arsenal to win or 40/1 Liverpool to win) and BetVictor (50/1 both teams to score)!
Liverpool v Arsenal Predictions
This match is very difficult to call.
Liverpool and Arsenal are among the highest scoring teams in league, having scored 36 and 35 goals respectively. Furthermore, these two teams possess the joint-best defensive record in the division, with each backline having been breached 15 times.
The Reds have been near-perfect at home this season but were below par against Man UTD last week. The Gunners are seriously better than Man United, and they have enough attacking talent and defensive solidity to avoid defeat in this one.
We go for the 1-1 draw in this one.
The Both Teams To Score option is appealing as well as Trent Alexander Arnold to have a shot on target. The England international is playing more as midfielder than right back..
