EPSOM DERBY BETTING PREVIEW
AUGUSTE RODIN is the favourite with the top UK betting sites despite flopping in the 2000 Guineas on seasonal reappearance. He won the Group 1 Futurity at Doncaster as a two-year-old, the form has been let down since.MILITARY ORDER is next in the betting. Trained by Charlie Appleby for owner Godolphin, he won on his first attempt over 1m4f when the full brother of 2021 winner Adayar got the better of Waipiro in the Lingfield Derby Trial.
ARREST was incredibly impressive in the Group 3 Chester Vase Stakes winning by over six lengths under Frankie Dettori and has been pre-prepared for the race with a spin around Tattenham Corner. Alongside with Military Order, he is the only horse with a victory over 1m 4f among the favorites. He has an excellent opportunity of providing Frankie Dettori with a final Derby winner for team Gosden.
PASSENGER is the least experienced runner with just two starts under his belt. He took the Wood Ditton at Newmarket on his racecourse debut and stayed on well in the Dante Stakes at York when he got a clear run and in the end wasn’t far away in third. He has been supplemented for the Derby at a cost of £85,000.
SPREWELL has won two out of four races on a flat track, including the Derby Trial on 7th May at the Leopardstown Racecourse when he powered away to beat Up And Under that day by 3 lengths.
WHITE BIRCH was a shock 22/1 winner of the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown on reappearance. He proved his victory was no fluke when a fast-finishing neck runner-up in the Dante Stakes at York when last seen.
THE FOXES has won three of his last four starts, including the Dante Stakes last time out. Last year the winner of that race – Desert Crown – won the Epsom Derby. He is in the same ownership as Leicester City and swerved the 2000 Guineas despite a course and distance victory on the Rowley Mile under his belt.
Dark horses?
WAIPIRO has only raced three time (with 1 win) and has just a length and a quarter to find with the 2nd favourite Military Order on their Lingfield form. That was his first try over 1m4f but stayed on well that day so the trip in the Derby will be no issue for him. Furthermore, the well-bred 3 year-old colt is sired by Australia, who won this famous race in 2014.With six career wins DUBAI MILE is one of the more experienced of the 2023 Epsom Derby runners. Anyway, this will be his first outing over 1m4f. THis CHarlie Johnston's trained-horse can't be underestimate as he beat Arrest in France last October over 1m2f and was not far away from Royal Lodge when 2nd at Newmarket last season.
ARTISTIC STAR is an unbeaten son of Galileo. He stepped up from a maiden to a nice novice event at Sandown and won comfortably. Despite this race could be a steep rise in grade on just his third career start, he has good chances to make the frame at very interesting odds (that are continuosly shortening).
