Ruby Walsh’s Horse Racing Tips (Cheltenham Day 1 - Tuesday 11th March, 2025)
Ruby Walsh announced his retirement from horse racing, a glorious career with well over 2000 wins, following a victory in the Punchestown Gold Cup, the feature event on day two of the Punchestown Festival. The Kildare man is one of the most experienced personality in this sport and he is back with his much appreciated horse racing tips.1:20 Cheltenham
"KOPEK DES BORDES has been doing everything really well at home since winning at the Dublin Racing Festival. I thought there’d be more runners in the Festival opener, but with Workahead and Romeo Coolio in here, there should be a strong pace from the start. It’s hard to get away from Kopek des Bordes as the likely winner."

2:00 Cheltenham
"MAJBOROUGH should win, and I won’t oppose him. However, if you wanted one to chase him home then Touch Me Not could be one for the forecast or the ‘betting without’ market."

2:40 Cheltenham
"I liked Broadway Boy but his last run disappointed me. WHISTLE STOP TOUR will be better suited by the step up in trip to 3m 1f so I’ll side with him."

3:20 Cheltenham
"The hope was that LOSSIEMOUTH would turn into a Champion Hurdle horse, but she hasn’t really proven it, so this looked the obvious option. I think she’ll win but it looks a stronger race than last year. Kala Conti shouldn’t be discounted."

4:00 Cheltenham
"State Man worked really well in cheekpieces this week, so they stay on. He’ll have to put in a career-best run to beat Constitution Hill, and I’m not sure State Man is as good as he was. I’ve been with BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD for a while and won’t be abandoning her now"

4:40 Cheltenham
"Paul Townend rides Sonny Bill, and he has a chance. Neither of Willie’s horses looks particularly well handicapped, but the drying ground will help Murcia. I fancy BEYOND YOURDREAMS, who has the cheekpieces on, and that will sharpen up her jumping. That has been her Achilles heel so far. She has a great chance."

5:20 Cheltenham
"A couple of the Irish challengers, like Captain Cody and Now Is The Hour, have their chance, but I like the English challenger, RESPLENDENT GREY, for Sean Bowen and trainer Olly Murphy. He appears to be dropping in grade, will stay the 3m 5f trip well and looks a player."

Ruby Walsh's Horse Racing Tips
Since retirement, Ruby Walsh has been providing punters with some of the best horse racing tips of the Internet. He is an expert on the Irish racing in particular and with close links to Willie Mullins’ yard.
Who Is Ruby Walsh?
Ruby Walsh is one of the greatest jockeys to ever race and his name sounds familiar to everyone has a remote interest in this sport. He is third most prolific jump jockey in Britain and Ireland, behind only Richard Johnson and Sir Anthony McCoy.
Across his career, he won a whopping 2,756 races, including dozens of Grade 1s.
In his opening attempt at the Grand National in 2000 he won the race aged just 20, on board Papillon of his father Ted. The Irishman won his second Aintree showpiece five years later with Hedgehunter. He won all four Grand Nationals in the UK, a rare feat in the sport.
The County Kildare jockey has been successful on two occasions in the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Kauto Star, the blue riband in the national hunt racing. He rode more winners than any other jockey at the Cheltenham Festival with 59 successes and won the Top Jockey title at the festival on a total of 11 times.
Ruby is the son of trainer Ted Walsh, who rode as an amateur jockey in his younger days. His sister Katie has also followed in her father's footsteps as she too occasionally rides as an amateur.
Paul Townend is now Mullins' top jockey while Ruby Walsh is now Racing TV's star presenter and Paddy Power brand ambassador. He has quickly taken his expertise into the world of punditry, lighting up TV coverage and beyond.
