Jose Gimenez returns from a ban and should immediately replace the injured Stefan Savic while Thomas Partey is ready to make his return after resuming squad training on Thursday.
Diego Simeone will still not be able to rely on the services of Tiago and Yannick Carrasco, who remain sidelined due to long term injuries. As consequence, Fernando Torres and Antoine Girezmann are likely to lead the line in a 4-4-2 formation.
Atletico are undefeated in 10 of their last 11 matches against Real Madrid in all competitions. Away from home, the Colchoneros have suffered just three defeats in La Liga this season (W9 D1).
