URUGUAY v BRAZIL BETTING PREVIEW
Uruguay lost ground on the group leaders Brazil following a 3-1 defeat away at Chile last time out which ended their four-match unbeaten run in the qualifiers. La Celeste sit now 2nd in the CONMEBOL group, four points clear of fifth-placed Argentina.
They have won all six matches on the home pitch in qualifications, scoring 16 goals and conceding just one so far. In terms of direct matches, Uruguay have won only two of their last 14 games against Brazil. These two teams played out a 2-2 draw when they met in World Cup qualifying a year ago.
Both Luis Suarez and Fernando Muslera are suspended while veteran full-back Alvaro Pereira is out through injury. Abel Hernandez will partner Edinson Cavani up front while the likes of Gaston Ramirez, Arevalo Rios, Matias Vecino and Carlos Sanchez are likely to start in midfield. Martin Silva will replace Muslera between the posts while Diego Godin and Sebastian Coates will form the centre-back pair. Gaston Silva and Maxi Pereira will start as left and right back.
Brazil have bounced back from their disappointing Copa America campaign in emphatic fashion, recording seven straight victories (six in the World Cup qualifying group). As a result, the Seleçao boast a comfortable four-point cushion at the top of the CONMEBOL group with 27 points taken from possible 36. They demolished Argentina (3-0 at home) and Peru (2-0 away) in their last two qualifiers. Their defensive line has been rock-solid in recent times. Tite’s squad did not concede a single goal in five straight matches.
The Selecao head into this clash virtually unchanged, although Manchester City starlet Gabriel Jesus is missing through injury. Tite's 4-3-3 starting system will see Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino to spearhead the attack. The likes of Paulinho, Renato Augusto and Fernandinho will play in the middle of the park. Captain Joao Miranda will lead the defensive line, alongside Dani Alves, Marquinhos and Marcelo. Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa was forced to withdraw and he has been replaced by Palmeiras captain Dudu.
