Deontay Wilder vs Dominic Breazeale Betting Preview

Wilder's perfect record was ended after a hard-fought draw against Tyson Fury

Deontay Wilder (40-0-1, 39 KOs) has cut down just about everyone in his path, with his only blemish being a draw against lineal champion Tyson Fury in December. The Bronze Bomber, who was out-landed in nine of the 12 rounds, put the Brit down in Rounds 9 and 12, but was unable to get that Split Decision victory. Only Bermane Stiverne is the other boxer who has gone the distance against him (but he was thrashed in the rematch).

Wilder stands at 6’7”, has an 83-inch reach and an orthodox stance. His KO power is close to unmatched in the sport. Only two men have ever gone the distance against him. The issues for Wilder are technique and defense. Plus, his record featured early finishes in his first 32 fights, but seven of the last nine have gone past the eighth round. He was very close to defeat against Luiz Ortiz last year. He had a major scare when in trouble in the seventh round, before knocking out the Cuban in the tenth round.

Breazeale's only blemish being a seventh-round defeat against Anthony Joshua

Dominic Breazeale (20-1, 18 KOs) is getting a second crack at a world title after losing to then-IBF champion Anthony Joshua by 7th-round stoppage in June 2016. He rebuilt his career with three stoppage wins since then -  two KO wins and an RTD stoppage. In the first one Breazeal was knocked down in the fourth round, before a fifth round stoppage win over Izu Ugonoh. He beat Eric Molina in November 2017, which is a solid victory, then returned in 2018 to defeat the unimpressive Carlos Negron.

Breazeale is 33 years old, stands at 6’7”, has a 81.5-inch reach and an orthodox stance. He has proved he is a durable fighter and will show some resistance. His best chance is to keep the pressure on Wilder and make him fight on the back foot. That is where the champ is at his most uncomfortable. Anyway, he was unable to cope with superior skills, hand speed and the power Anthony Joshua sent his way in their June 2016 fight. The same could happen against Wilder.
