Wolves v Manchester United Betting Preview

Wolves beat Manchester United twice at Molineux last season

Wolves started their Premier League campaign with a 0-0 draw with Leicester and enter this clash on the back of Thursday’s 4-0 home win over Pyunik Yerevan in the Europa League qualifiers. Including friendlies, it was their seventh game this summer (W6, D1) and to date, only Crusaders scored against them. Wolverhampton fared well against top-6 teams last season, putting up 16 points (four wins, four losses, four draws) in their 12 matches against England's elite. Anyway, they failed to keep a clean sheet in those 12 games. Nuno Espirito Santo's men were unbeaten in three matches against Man United last season and beat them twice in that time.

For the Europa League match, Nuno Espirito Santo made nine changes to the team which started against Leicester, so we expect him to restore his usual starting XI. That would see Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez leading the line, and the likes of Rui Patricio, Ryan Bennett, Ruben Neves, Jonny and Matt Doherty featuring from the off. Other players such as Morgan Gibbs-White, Romain Saiss and Adama Traore will, barring late injuries, likely be back among the substitutes following their run-outs in Europe. Summer arrivals like Patrick Cutrone and Jesus Vallejo will not be rushed in the starting XI.

Man UTD have won all six of their pre-season games and hammered Chelsea last weekend

Manchester United thumped Chelsea 4-0 in their first round of Premier League. The Red Devils were fortunate to be up 1-0 at halftime after the Blues squandered multiple scoring chances in the first half. They then came out after the break and blew Lampard's men away with a flurry of ruthless, rapid counter-attacking football sent a strong message to title contenders. Away performances will be pivotal as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men finished 2018/19 abysmally on the road (D1, L3) so will be looking for a fast start to settle any lingering nerves. In terms of recent direct encounters, Wolves held the upper hand last season, taking four points in the Premier League and knocking the Red Devils out of the FA Cup.

New signings Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James all made positive impressions on their debuts last weekend and are expected to retain their starting berth. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will complete the front trio, with Jesse Lingard providing a further option upfront. Andreas Pereira and Paul Pogba look sure starters in midfield while Nemanja Matic is an alternative to Scott McTominay. Alexis Sanchez is unlikely to return in time for Monday. Eric Bailly is the only injured player for the visitors.
